Who We Are

Nava is on a mission to #fixhealthcare. Nearly 160M Americans rely on their employers for healthcare — yet the system is broken, bloated, and dominated by incumbents who resist change. Nava fuses deep benefits expertise with cutting-edge technology to deliver a modern, transparent, and affordable healthcare experience.

Founded by seasoned entrepreneurs and backed by leading investors, Nava is one of the fastest-growing benefits brokerages in the country. We’re the first to combine brokerage know-how with proprietary tech like HQ: our AI-powered benefits platform, designed to help HR teams take control of renewals, simplify strategy, eliminate spreadsheet chaos, and empower employees to navigate their benefits with ease.

In a $50B industry hungry for change, Nava is built to win — lowering costs for employers, delighting employees, and reshaping how healthcare works for millions of Americans.

About This Role & Why It Matters

The Solutions Consultant sits at the intersection of sales, benefits strategy, and financial consulting — showing up in prospect meetings to help win new business, guiding clients through the complexity of alternate funding arrangements, and delivering the monthly financial insights that keep plan sponsors informed and in control.

This role is built for someone who knows alternate funding inside and out, thrives in front of an executive audience, and can move fluidly between a capabilities presentation in the morning and a stop-loss claims analysis in the afternoon. You’ll work closely with our Partner team on new business pursuits and serve as a trusted advisor to clients navigating some of the most consequential decisions they’ll make about their benefits program.

We’re looking for a benefits consultant who is energized by complex problems, values collaboration, and wants to do meaningful work in an environment that rewards expertise.

What You’ll Do

1. New Business Development

As a key player in new business pursuits, the Solutions Consultant works hand-in-hand with our Partner team throughout the sales cycle — from capabilities presentations through finalist meetings. You’ll engage directly with prospects, serve as a subject matter expert in client-facing meetings, and help shape the narrative that wins deals. This isn’t a behind-the-scenes role; you’re in the room, building trust, answering the hard questions, and helping prospects see what’s possible with Nava.

  • Participate in prospect meetings at all stages of the sales process, from capabilities presentations through finalist meetings

  • Partner closely with our Producer team to develop tailored solutions and compelling presentation materials

  • Serve as the consultative voice on benefits strategy, funding options, and program design

  • Build credibility with HR leaders and C-suite stakeholders through clear, confident, expert communication

2. Alternate Funding Strategy & Client Advisory

The Solutions Consultant is Nava’s in-house expert on alternative funding strategies — serving both prospects evaluating a move away from fully insured and existing clients managing complex funding arrangements. You’ll guide clients through the full spectrum of options, helping them understand tradeoffs, structure the right solution, and feel confident in the path forward.

  • Advise prospects and clients on self-funded, level-funded, captive, and reference-based pricing models

  • Evaluate client risk profiles and funding readiness in partnership with carriers and underwriters

  • Coordinate marketing, carrier negotiations, and renewal efforts for alternate funded programs

  • Guide clients through stop-loss renewals, plan design decisions, and mid-year adjustments

  • Stay current on market trends and emerging funding solutions to bring fresh thinking to client conversations

3. Financial Reporting & Client Insights

For clients with alternate funded plans, ongoing financial visibility is critical. The Solutions Consultant owns the monthly reporting cadence, translating claims data into clear insights that drive smarter decisions at renewal and throughout the plan year.

  • Deliver monthly financial reports and claims utilization analysis to applicable clients

  • Identify trends, outliers, and cost drivers in claims data and communicate findings in plain language

  • Partner with Client Success to ensure financial insights are integrated into broader client strategy

  • Drive renewal preparation through data-driven recommendations based on plan performance

What You’ll Bring
  • 5+ years in employee benefits consulting with hands-on experience in alternate funding strategies, including self-funded, level-funded, captive, and reference-based pricing models

  • Deep understanding of stop-loss markets, underwriting principles, and carrier negotiation — you know how to structure a deal and defend it

  • Experience managing monthly financial reporting and claims utilization analysis, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for clients

  • Proven track record presenting and consulting at the executive and C-suite level — you’re comfortable in a finalist meeting and can hold a room

  • Strong working knowledge of benefit program design and the ability to connect plan structure to client goals

  • Active Health Insurance License required

  • Collaborative by nature — you work well with producers, client success, and ops teams without needing to own every thread

  • Organized and dependable, with strong follow-through on reporting cadences and client deliverables

  • Excellent communicator — written, verbal, and in a slide deck
