About the Role
Command|Link is expanding beyond network aggregation and reselling to build and operate its own internet infrastructure, deploying our own Points of Presence (POPs), managing dark fiber, and delivering high-capacity connectivity services directly to mid-market and enterprise customers. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape how Command|Link's internet services reach the world.
As a Solutions Engineer, Private Networking & Transport, you will be the technical face of this new practice. Drawing on deep expertise in carrier-grade networking, data center infrastructure, and cloud interconnect, you will guide customers and partners through complex connectivity decisions, from initial discovery through solution design and partner enablement.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Sales & Solution Design
- Own end-to-end technical solution design for high-capacity internet and connectivity services across the full sales cycle.
- Conduct in-depth technical discovery sessions to identify customer needs across DIA, point-to-point, EVPN, VPLS, dark fiber, and burstable/dynamic bandwidth services.
- Translate complex infrastructure requirements into clear, compelling proposals tailored to each customer's business and technical environment.
- Act as the trusted technical advisor for Channel Sales Executives, TSDs, channel partners, and direct enterprise customers.
Infrastructure & Technical Expertise
- Design and position solutions leveraging Command|Link's owned POP and data center footprint, including DC-to-DC and DC-to-hyperscaler (AWS, Azure) interconnects.
- Apply expert knowledge of BGP routing, dynamic bandwidth, burstable services, and carrier ethernet to architect scalable, resilient solutions.
- Design POP and DC infrastructure requirements, including space, power, and equipment selection to support customer deployments.
- Maintain fluency in market trends, competitive pricing, and evolving technology across all relevant service categories.
Partner & Customer Enablement
- Lead webinars, technical seminars, and hands-on workshops for partners, TSDs, and customers to drive adoption of Command|Link Internet services.
- Develop and deliver compelling demonstrations that articulate the value of Command|Link's owned infrastructure versus traditional reseller models.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with channel partners, equipping them to confidently position and sell Command|Link Internet.
- Contribute to early-stage product management by feeding market intelligence and customer feedback into product development roadmaps.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product, Sales, and Engineering teams to refine service offerings and respond to evolving market demands.
- Proactively manage your technical opportunity funnel in coordination with assigned Channel Directors.
- Provide internal education and training, serving as a subject matter expert on internet infrastructure services across the organization.
What You'll Need for Success
Required Technical Expertise
- Deep, hands-on expertise with DIA, point-to-point circuits, eVPN, dark fiber, VPLS, and burstable/dynamic bandwidth services and High-Capacity Networking
- Advanced knowledge of BGP and dynamic routing in carrier and enterprise environments.
- Practical experience with POP and data center infrastructure — space, power, equipment procurement, and construction/buildout processes.
- Experience designing DC-to-hyperscaler connectivity solutions.
- Familiarity with the competitive landscape and pricing in the market.
Skills & Attributes
- Ability to guide mid-market and enterprise customers through complex engagement cycles from discovery through handoff.
- Confident delivering high-impact technical presentations, demos, and webinars to both technical and executive audiences.

Compensation includes a competitive base salary plus commission, with an On-Target Earnings (OTE) of $175,000+.
Commandlink hires individuals in a number of geographic regions and the pay ranges listed reflect the cost of labor across these regions. The base pay for this position as displayed at the bottom of the job description is a range based on our lowest geographic region, up to our highest geographic region. Pay is based on location among other factors, such as skill-set, experience, and qualifications held.
