Lead development of Gymshark's scalable spatial design language and craft standard for stores. Produce build-ready layouts, material specifications and documentation, protect creative intent through delivery, manage and develop spatial designers, and align multi-stakeholder teams to create brand‑consistent, community‑rooted retail environments.

OVERVIEW:
Gymshark is one of the most engaged fitness communities in the world, built in the gym and grown through genuine connection with the people who train in it. The Spatial Design team is where Gymshark takes physical form: the stores and spaces where the community shows up in the real world.

As Spatial Design Lead, you'll be the craft authority and systems thinker for spatial design at Gymshark, defining the design language that scales across a growing portfolio of physical environments and ensuring the quality of every space reflects what the brand stands for. Your remit is the creative standard, the system that carries it, and the designers who deliver it.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Build and evolve Gymshark's spatial design language, including materials palettes, fixture families, spatial principles and experiential standards, into a scalable system that applies consistently across stores, formats and geographies
  • Own and raise the craft standard across Gymshark's physical environments, ensuring work is consistently excellent from first concept through to build
  • Lead on complex spatial projects from early store planning and concept through to build-ready documentation, producing layouts, material specifications and outputs that architects, shopfitters and contractors can work directly from
  • Protect creative intent through the delivery process, translating design standards into requirements that hold up under commercial and operational pressure
  • Work with brand designers to ensure spatial environments express the brand consistently across every real-world touchpoint
  • Line manage and develop spatial designers, investing in their growth through regular feedback, critique and the craft standard you set in your own work
  • Stay close to where spatial design, physical retail and brand experience are heading, bringing that perspective into how the team works and what Gymshark builds
  • Ensure Gymshark's physical spaces feel rooted in the community and culture they're built for, not just well-executed retail environments

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • A background in interior design, architecture, spatial design or a related discipline
  • Significant spatial design experience with a portfolio showing genuine craft, strong conceptual thinking and the ability to design spatial languages that scale across multiple environments and formats, not just solve for one space at a time
  • Deep expertise in store planning, layout, zoning and circulation, with the ability to design spaces that work both experientially and commercially
  • Advanced knowledge of materials, finishes and fixture families, with the ability to curate palettes that express the brand, perform well in retail environments and are chosen with an understanding of how they age and are sourced
  • Advanced technical proficiency in CAD and 3D visualisation, producing detailed specifications and build-ready documentation that contractors and shopfitters can work directly from
  • Experience across complex multi-stakeholder projects spanning architects, shopfitters, contractors, brand and operations teams, bringing alignment without losing design intent
  • Genuine curiosity about how people experience physical space, the craft of spatial design and the world Gymshark is building around it
