The Sr. Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing business systems and processes to meet organizational needs. This role involves gathering and documenting business requirements, working closely with stakeholders, and implementing technology solutions that improve efficiency, performance, and productivity. The Sr. Business Systems Analyst will serve as a liaison among R&D, business units, and engineering teams, ensuring that the right systems, processes, and technologies are in place to meet both short-term and long-term business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Requirements Gathering: Work closely with business stakeholders to identify and document business requirements, pain points, and system needs. Translate these requirements into functional specifications.
- System Analysis & Design: Analyze and assess current business systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement. Design technology solutions and business process changes that drive operational efficiency.
- Solution Implementation: Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to implement software applications, upgrades, and system integrations. Ensure that all systems and processes are properly tested and meet user requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison among R&D, business units and engineering teams, ensuring that the system solutions align with both business needs and technical capabilities. Facilitate communication between technical teams and business users.
- System Optimization: Continuously monitor system performance and work with stakeholders to optimize processes, improve user experience, and ensure systems are scalable and efficient.
- Change Management: Lead change management efforts related to new systems and processes, ensuring that end-users are trained, supported, and prepared for the transition.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze business data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide insights and recommendations for improving system performance. Develop reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
- Documentation & Training: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for business systems, processes, and technical requirements. Develop training materials and deliver training sessions to ensure system users understand how to leverage the tools effectively.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with third-party vendors and external consultants, ensuring that their solutions meet business requirements and deliver expected results.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies. Proactively identify opportunities for system enhancements or new technologies to support business growth.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CBAP, Six Sigma) are a plus.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, with a strong understanding of business processes, system design, and engineering solutions.
- Proven experience in requirements gathering, business process analysis, and system implementation.
- Experience in analyzing and optimizing business systems in various environments, such as ERP, CRM, and other enterprise applications.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex systems and develop practical solutions.
- Expertise in documenting and translating business requirements into functional specifications and technical solutions.
- Experience with system design, process optimization, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Experience with project management tool sets (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and project management practices.
- Proficiency in business analysis tools, databases, and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA).
- Experience with data/Bioinformatics platforms (e.g. Databricks, DNAnexus)
- Familiarity with data integration tools and platforms (e.g., middleware, ETL processes).
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Experience with automation tools and business process management software.
- Familiarity with software testing methodologies and quality assurance processes.

Summary:The Director, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for leading Baylor Genetics’ strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, FP&A process improvement. This role plays a critical part in aligning financial strategy with long-term business goals. The Director will provide executive-level insights to leadership and external stakeholders while ensuring financial models and projections reflect the organization’s growth trajectory and performance.
Qualifications and Experience:- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial planning and analysis or corporate finance
- At least 3 years in a financial leadership role
- Proven success in FP&A process improvement, experience in Adaptive planning platform implementation required
- Strong background in financial modeling, budgeting, and strategic forecasting
- Strategic Financial Planning & Forecasting:
- Lead the development of company-wide financial models and long-term forecasts
- Translate strategic objectives into detailed financial plans aligned with organizational priorities
- Collaborate with executive leadership to assess financial performance, risks, and growth opportunities
- Oversee the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts
- Ensure alignment between actual results and forecasts, identifying key trends and drivers
- Partner with department heads to develop financially sound operational plans
- Lead revenue and margin analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Drive business performance by analyzing sales trends, pricing strategies, and market dynamics
- Provide financial insights that support resource allocation and investment decisions
- Develop and maintain dashboards, planning and reporting tools for executive and departmental use including Adaptive planning platform
- Provide timely and actionable financial insights to guide company performance
- Build and lead a high-performing FP&A team
