SUMMARY:

As a Senior Collector, you will perform credit, accounts receivable and collections functions for a set of accounts within a branch or business unit.  Responsible for maintaining professional relationships with internal and external contacts, including operations, sales and customers.  Supports team to achieve cash flow and obtain KPI’s associated with Collector Bonus Plan established by Finance leadership

What You’ll Do:

  • Monitors past due invoices and make a high-volume of collections contacts via phone, e-mail or customer portals.  Frequency of contact depends on customer payment history, industry, invoice amount, etc.  
  • Works with the customer to determine root cause of dispute for unpaid or short-paid invoices.  Identifies and documents detailed reason. 
  • Performs customer account reconciliations, including research of unapplied cash and unused credits. 
  • Evaluates collectability of unpaid, short paid and disputed invoices, etc. and makes cancellation/ write-off recommendation of uncollectable amounts to Collection Supervisor. 
  • Obtains appropriate credit information to rate credit worthiness of new and existing accounts within assigned portfolio. 
  • Works cross-functionally with Sales, Operations and Finance to the successful collection of assigned A/R. 
  • May Provide leadership or mentoring to other Collectors. 

What You’ll Need:

  • High School Degree or equivalent 
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in collections, accounts receivable, accounting, data entry and customer service.  
  • Software: 
    • Knowledge of computer system applications: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word).
  • Communication:
    • Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills with a positive disposition. 
    • Tolerant and able to cope with stressful interactions.  
  • Organization:
    • Reliable with strong organizational skills and solution-oriented philosophy. 
    • Strong attention to detail with a passion for accuracy. 
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate a willingness to accept new challenges.
