The Sr. Director of Engineering oversees Facilities Management departments, ensuring efficient operations, compliance with regulations, and departmental staffing needs.
Job Summary & Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and oversee all of the Facilities Management Departments, (Engineering,
Housekeeping, Laundry, Transportation, Communications, Security departments) programs, budgets, and activities. - Review the department's policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, etc. at least annually for revisions and make recommendations to the Senior Administrator.
- Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies.
- Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc., to assure control of equipment and supplies, for all departments.
- Ensure that outside services are properly completed/supervised in accordance with contracts/work orders.
- Serve on various committees of the facility (i.e., Infection Control, Safety, PI, ) and provide written/oral reports of maintenance services and activities as required by the committee's guidelines or direction.
- Meet with Facilities Management Department heads, on a regularly scheduled basis, and solicit advice from inter-department Directors/supervisors concerning the operation of the departments, assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or the improvement of services.
- Determine departmental staffing requirements necessary to meet the Facilities Management department's needs.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
Experience Requirements
- Must Possess the operational and regulatory knowledge required to direct support services in a large-scale healthcare environment.
Skill Requirements
- Ability to plan, direct, and educate as required various levels of supervision. Knowledge of computers, programs (outlook, word, Excel etc.), complex building systems, large commercial equipment including Boilers, Chillers, Fire Alarm Systems, sprinkler systems, pumps, air handlers, security systems, and all associated regulatory delineations.
- Able to develop, address and present reports to large groups and committees. Act as a liaison to the OEM, FDNY, and NYPD on behalf of the facility.
