There is an urgent need to finance nearly 20 million units of rental  housing in the United States this decade. Historic data indicates that without significant disruption of the financing and construction industry, we will fall woefully short. Currently the process to underwrite and finance new multifamily housing loans is incredibly archaic, fragmented and lacks industry standard tools and digital innovation. It takes upwards of 4 months to apply for and underwrite/close each loan. We are changing this status quo.

Builders Patch, a venture-backed startup, is revolutionizing housing finance. The Builders Patch platform digitizes and automates the process, and provides AI-driven insights and analytics to bring accuracy, speed and transparency to the closing process. Ultimately we are accelerating the rate at which housing units are built.

With one of the largest housing agencies in the country as our customer, we are creating a robust ecosystem for both the lender and the housing developer. We are rapidly growing to add new lenders and housing developers to the platform, and seeking our first Senior Engineering Manager to help scale. 

We are currently a team of 6 full time employees with an additional engineering team of 5. We want to change how housing is built and create stronger communities by leveraging technology to disrupt one of the most siloed industries in the world. The Role

Builders Patch is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager/Director of Engineering to join our team. At Builders Patch, you will work on and lead projects that impact the technical direction of our product and business. We are looking for someone who can be a leader by bringing their energy and enthusiasm to incorporating best practices and implementing the latest cutting-edge technology to take our product to the mass market.

• Work alongside the leadership team to deliver high priority features and enhancements.

• Hire and mentor a team of diverse engineers, and manage/work with remote teams.

• Bring best practices of CI/CD, participate in code reviews , define and enforce quality standards.

• Hands-on delivery and problem solving is most valuable.

What you bring to the table

• 7+  years of software engineering experience delivering production application software.

• 3+ years of management experience leading small engineering teams.

• Technical, hands-on developer experience refactoring and managing technical debt while building new features within tight deadlines.

• Preferable experience using Linux technologies; Python/Django, JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular/React, AWS, Heroku, Kubernetes.

• Excellent in balancing team morale, while continuing to execute against aggressive deadlines.
