THE OPPORTUNITY
The Sr. Logistics Analyst, Domestic will report to the Sr. Manager, Global Transportation and have primary functions: 1) Manage the day to day execution of all domestic inbound freight in US, CAN and cross border by working with vendors, carriers, Scholastic supply chain planners and demand planners 2) Manage special high profile / time critical logistics moves for new releases, 3) Logistics analysis and process improvement, and 4) serve as an Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) Superuser, 5) Support global trade compliance coordination outbound / export. 6) International Inbound back up for Sr. Logistics Analyst, International.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Day to day management of domestic inbound transportation spend ~$7-$8MM with up to 150 shipments per day. Includes:
Vendor setup/training on Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) TMS system
Processing vendor order releases in OTM TMS to achieve required service levels at best total costs
Tender shipments to optimal carrier in OTM TMS
Tracking shipments from order release through delivery
Attending HOT titles meetings and provide daily updates to business
Manage RFQs for carrier spot bids
Managing carrier performance and contract compliance
Manage vendor shipping compliance in cooperation with Supply Chain
Resolving issues with vendors and carriers
Review and approval of billing and policy exceptions in Technical Traffic (Scholastic’s Transportation Bill Payment Application)
Familiar with NAFTA requirements for cross border shipments between US and Canada and US and Mexico
Manage special high profile, time critical logistics moves for new releases
Work with Supply Chain to understand production schedules
Identify best carrier for each project
Lead pre-planning meetings with carriers, shipping locations, and receiving locations to ensure plan, roles and responsibilities are understood by all parties
Set up appropriate tracking process and status process
Lead daily status meetings
Schedule pick-up and delivery appointments
Track every shipment from pick-up to delivery
Responsible for supporting the analysis, process improvement and cost savings initiatives of the department, including:
Identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities
Develop and lead implementation of cross-functional process improvements
Analysis: data collection from various Scholastic and carrier systems (OTM TMS, Technical Traffic), data structuring and advanced analysis in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Tableau
Data visualization and development of metrics dashboards
Process mapping and design
Business case development
Change management and communications
Presentations in PowerPoint
Responsible for understanding Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) as an expert user which includes:
Full knowledge of end to end process configuration in OTM
Skilled in OTM configuration
Troubleshooting OTM system issues with Scholastic Technical Services (STS)
Troubleshooting EDI connectivity issues with carriers and STS
Systems testing
Continuous improvement of configuration
Lead end user training sessions for vendors, carriers, and Scholastic business users
Provide user technical support for vendors, carriers, and Scholastic business users
Global trade compliance coordination for outbound / export
Work collaboratively with NSO, NYC Mail Room, Canada export, and others groups in US to continuously improve compliance and related process on export shipments
Maintain process documentation and training materials
Support system and other process related projects involving export transactions
Work with stakeholders to resolve global trade issues and manage customs audits.

QualificationsHOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience:
5-8 years of experience in Supply Chain Management or Logistics
Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Engineering or any bachelor with equivalent Supply Chain Management training. Training / experience in data analysis and related software (Excel, Access, Tableau, Oracle Transportation Management)
