We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Summary:

The Global Merchant Lending team enables businesses to access responsible and scalable credit solutions. As a Senior manager, this role will lead the development and execution of data-driven credit strategies, frameworks and policies that shape how PayPal manages risk across its merchant lending portfolio.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex data science projects, ensuring they meet business objectives and deliver actionable insights.
  • Develop advanced data models and algorithms to analyze large datasets and solve complex business problems.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify data-driven opportunities for business growth and efficiency.
  • Implement best practices for data management, analysis, and visualization.
  • Ensure data governance and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to the data science team.

Expected Qualifications:

  • 8+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience leading others

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

Responsibilities

  • Design and enhance credit strategy frameworks governing originations, renewals, and portfolio management to support healthy and scalable growth
  • Develop and maintain credit policies and guardrails that balance business expansion with sound risk management principles
  • Build analytical frameworks and monitoring tools to assess portfolio health, track early warning indicators and identify emerging risks
  • Partner with data science on deployment, monitoring and calibration of credit risk models and segmentation strategies
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Product, Platform, Governance, Engineering, and Finance teams to integrate credit strategies and decisioning into product design and system architecture

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in credit risk strategy, policy development, and portfolio analytics
  • Strong understanding of the commercial credit ecosystem including credit products, bureau information, bank and cash flow data, and alternative data sources used for credit risk underwriting and monitoring
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategy
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with experience presenting to senior management

The US national annual pay range for this role is $169,500 to $291,500
