Job Description

We are looking to hire a Senior Portfolio Management Assistant to support our healthcare hedge fund at Seligman Investments, part of Columbia Threadneedle Investments, an asset manager with over $600 billion in assets under management and administration. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing fund with an entrepreneurial spirit yet part of a highly established and reputable investment firm/ platform.  The person who will be successful in this role will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative, is a continuous learner, and is able to prioritize tasks for themselves and others.
This is an opportunity to gain exposure to investing in biotech and the broader healthcare sector and experience at a hedge fund. You will make an impactful contribution to the success of the team and helping clients to achieve their investment goals.

How you’ll spend your time…

Work closely with several portfolio management teams to support the foundational aspects of portfolio construction and implementation, including:
Monitoring portfolio cash and holdings
Accurately entering equity trade orders into investment systems, 
Providing daily, monthly, and quarterly portfolio reporting
Ensuring that portfolios align with client guidelines and applicable regulations.
Act as the primary point of contact between portfolio management teams and internal business partners (Compliance, Operations, Technology, etc.).  
Troubleshoot issues, lead portfolio management teams through operational and technological changes and participate in platform implementation activity.
Respond to ad hoc requests from portfolio manager, including requests for portfolio analytics, transaction details and market commentary.
Support due diligence activities across healthcare and biotech
Creating and maintain processes for the hedge fund team

To be successful in this role you will have…

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with multiple teams at multiple levels
An interest in programming languages and an ability to quickly learn specialized investment systems
Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness

In-Office Collaboration

We are a client-centric, relationship-based business. Working together, in-person, is foundational to how we achieve results. By fostering a culture of face-to-face collaboration, idea sharing, productivity and personal connection, we deliver for our stakeholders — clients, advisors, employees and shareholders. Our employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, and specific requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $76,700 - $90,000 per year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that supports all aspects of your health and well-being, including but not limited to vacation time, sick time, 401(k), and health, dental and life insurances.
