Location: Fully Remote — Kenya-based team member supporting a U.S.-based accounting and advisory firm
Type: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Schedule & Availability: Availability aligned with U.S. business hours and team collaboration requirements.
Terms of Engagement: 18-month contract preferred, renewable based on performance, business need, and mutual fit.
This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong experience in client accounting, month-end close, account reconciliations, accounts payable, financial reporting, and Restaurant365 (R365).
The client is specifically seeking professionals with hands-on Restaurant365 experience and a solid foundation in accounting principles. Restaurant365 experience is currently a non-negotiable requirement, and candidates should have more than 6 months of R365 experience, with prior staff accountant or bookkeeping experience.
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities of assigned clients and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting.
This role owns the accounting execution for assigned clients, supports the Pack Leader in meeting close deadlines, and collaborates closely with internal team members to deliver a high-quality client experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Accounting & Financial Reporting
● Maintain accurate financial records for assigned clients.
● Complete month-end close activities according to established timelines.
● Prepare and review account reconciliations.
● Review profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and supporting schedules.
● Ensure financial statements are accurate and delivered on time.
● Investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting issues promptly.
● Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and reporting accuracy.
2. Accounts Payable & Cash Management
● Process and review accounts payable transactions.
● Manage vendor payment workflows.
● Review bank account activity and credit card transactions.
● Assist with transaction coding and expense categorization.
● Support cash management activities.
● Maintain accurate supporting documentation.
3. Payroll & Compliance Support
● Review payroll journal entries and related accounting activity.
● Assist with payroll reconciliations.
● Support year-end reporting requirements.
● Assist with 1099 preparation and compliance activities.
● Ensure accounting records support regulatory and reporting requirements.
4. Client Service & Communication
● Communicate professionally with clients regarding accounting matters.
● Respond to client questions and requests in a timely manner.
● Build positive working relationships with assigned clients.
● Partner with Relationship Managers to support client satisfaction.
● Maintain professionalism, responsiveness, and accuracy in all client interactions.
5. Team Collaboration & Support
● Collaborate closely with Pack Leaders and internal accounting teams.
● Provide guidance and support to Junior Accountants when needed.
● Participate in internal training initiatives.
● Assist with onboarding and cross-training activities.
● Contribute to process improvement efforts and team efficiency initiatives
Requirements
Required Skills & Experience
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
● Equivalent professional accounting experience may be considered.
● 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required.
● Restaurant365 (R365) experience required.
● More than 6 months of hands-on Restaurant365 experience strongly preferred.
● Experience with cloud-based accounting systems.
● Prior Staff Accountant experience preferred.
● Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
● Experience performing account reconciliations and month-end close activities.
● Experience working with accounts payable and transaction coding.
● Experience supporting payroll accounting and compliance activities.
● Strong Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets skills.
● Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
