What this role tends to look like:

  • Setting technical direction across a domain or set of teams, not just a single codebase

  • Diving into the hardest, most ambiguous problems and driving them to a clean solution

  • Raising the bar on engineering practices — architecture, code quality, testing, operational rigor

  • Mentoring senior engineers and helping them grow into the next stage of their careers

  • Partnering closely with product and engineering leadership to shape roadmaps and technical strategy

  • Writing code when it matters, and knowing when not to

What we look for:

  • A track record of technical leadership at scale, ideally with Staff/Principal-level experience (or Senior engineers clearly operating at that level)

  • Strong systems thinking — you can zoom out to architecture and zoom into a gnarly bug with equal ease

  • Excellent communication; you can influence without relying on authority

  • A bias toward pragmatic solutions over perfect ones

  • Genuine curiosity and a track record of continuous learning
