This role sits at the intersection of connectivity engineering, product management, cloud platforms, and ecosystem development. The successful candidate will own the product vision and execution strategy for connectivity capabilities spanning cellular, satellite, edge computing, IoT, telematics, and cloud-based data platforms. - Define and evolve the Connectivity platform roadmap supporting Caterpillar machines, sites, digital products, and autonomous systems.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and connectivity architectures including:
- Starlink and satellite communications
- Cellular technologies (LTE, LTE-M, NB-IoT, 5G)
- Private LTE and Private 5G networks
- Wi-Fi and mesh networking solutions
- Edge compute platforms
- Industrial IoT connectivity solutions
- Develop technology investment recommendations balancing customer value, technical feasibility, scalability, security, reliability, and cost.
Product & Architecture Leadership
- Partner with architecture and engineering leaders to establish future-state connectivity capabilities enabling remote operations, connected assets, autonomy, and digital services.
- Influence technology direction across machine connectivity, site infrastructure, edge processing, data transport, and cloud integration.
- Evaluate architectural tradeoffs across network technologies, edge platforms, device management, cloud services, and data pipelines.
- Drive adoption of platform capabilities that can be leveraged across multiple product teams and business units.
Data & Digital Ecosystem
- Define product requirements and strategy for connectivity-related data pipelines supporting telemetry, health monitoring, fleet management, autonomy, and customer-facing digital experiences.
- Partner with enterprise data, cloud, and analytics teams to ensure scalable movement of data from machine and site environments to cloud-based platforms.
- Establish visibility into platform health, data quality, connectivity reliability, and operational performance metrics.
Technical Program Leadership
- Serve as the connective layer between engineering, architecture, operations, vendors, and business stakeholders.
- Drive execution across multiple engineering teams, ensuring alignment on roadmap priorities, milestones, dependencies, and technical decisions.
- Identify and eliminate blockers impacting delivery, architecture adoption, and business outcomes.
- Lead cross-functional reviews, technical decision forums, and governance activities.
- Communicate roadmap status, platform maturity, key risks, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Ecosystem Development
- Build and maintain relationships with:
- Satellite connectivity providers
