Develop high-performance 3D web applications for architectural modeling using Rust, React, TypeScript, and WebAssembly. Responsibilities include designing software across the stack, partnering with product and UX teams, translating requirements into features, and maintaining unit and integration tests. The role requires expertise in 3D modeling, production software development, memory management, concurrency, performance optimization, web applications, and AI-assisted development tools.
Motif is building an agent-native platform for how buildings are designed and built. The Modeling team owns the modeling experience end to end — the UI, the data model, and the algorithms behind every building model in Motif. We connect an intuitive interface to a robust data model and fast algorithms, turning each user action into a reliable, high-performance modeling operation in 3D. And we build it as a platform: the features we ship have to work end to end today and also provide the capabilities to extend them.
We are seeking an experienced 3D application developer to help us build cutting-edge, high-performance web applications.
You will leverage your expert understanding of 3D modeling, full-stack development experience and passion to build robust software using modern languages and tech stacks such as Rust and WASM. You'll also bring a thoughtful approach to leveraging AI tools in your day-to-day work.
What you will do:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications in Rust, leveraging the language's strengths in safety, concurrency, and performance.
- Contribute across the stack as needed — React, TypeScript, WebAssembly.
- Partner with product managers and user experience designers to clarify requirements and to translate them to software features.
- Maintain necessary automated test coverage by implementing unit and integration tests.
What you bring:
- Understanding of 3d modeling domain as applied to architecture, mechanical design, game development or an adjacent field.
- 5+ years of experience developing complex, production-quality software products.
- Production-level Rust or other object-oriented development experience, with a strong understanding of memory management, concurrency, and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in at least one additional language (JavaScript, TypeScript) for contributing across the stack.
- Experience building web applications
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools in real production work.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
It would be great if you had:
- Understanding of design-by-composition and its applications in Rust.
- Experience with WebAssembly in a browser context — compiling Rust to WASM and integrating WASM modules into a JavaScript/TypeScript application.
- Experience in building and maintaining complex high-performance distributed systems
