Our data-driven products help financial institutions streamline their collections, offering borrowers straightforward and compassionate solutions to regain financial stability and control over their lives. We're not just expanding access to credit – we're restoring dignity and giving millions of people the chance to achieve financial freedom.
About the Role
The Borrower Experience (BX) teams are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Staff Engineer to help us shape the future of how our borrowers engage with our products (and how we engage with our borrowers). The Borrower Experience group redefines access to credit with empathy. We meet borrowers where they are, support them through moments of vulnerability, and serve those most often underserved by our financial system.
Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering for BX, they will play a key technical leadership role, providing technical direction and guidance across all BX engineering teams. The role is a mix of driving alternatively day-to-day execution and long-term strategy for borrower-facing web experiences.
What You’ll Work On
You will lead technical strategy across three product teams shaping our borrower experience—Acquisition, Activation, and Support. You will build scalable, reliable systems that turn outreach into engagement, guide borrowers to resolution, and deliver seamless support. You will drive cross-team alignment, mentor engineers, and champion best practices. You will contribute directly to critical projects, work with other functions, and help define how millions interact with our platform. All while pushing innovation in how we utilize the latest technology and system architecture.
What You Bring to the Table
Deep technical expertise in building and scaling modern web applications, with strong architecture and system design skills
Track record of technical leadership across multiple teams, driving alignment and elevating engineering standards
Strong product intuition with a user-first mindset—you care how things work and how they feel
Experience with guiding platform migrations (bonus for AI and LLMs experience)
Bias for action—you unblock teams, navigate ambiguity, and push high-impact work across the finish line
Commitment to excellence in code quality, performance, reliability, and security
Mentorship mindset—you support, coach, and grow engineers at all levels
Clear communicator who builds trust across engineering, product, and design
Collaborative problem-solver who thrives in cross-functional environments
Comfort with hands-on contribution when needed to de-risk or accelerate key initiatives
We find that candidates who perform well in this role often have 8+ years of software development experience. However, we encourage you to apply for this role even if your experience isn’t an exact match. We value professional development and on-the-job learning!
