Who We Are

Maybern is transforming the way private fund managers effectively manage their funds through cutting edge technology. Maybern is founded by top engineering experts with deep knowledge of the fund management space.

Private funds manage $15T in capital and are growing at 20% YoY, but with increasing regulatory scrutiny and investor demands for transparency, the need for world class software to help private fund CFOs is crucial.

This is where Maybern comes in.

We are equipping fund managers with intuitive, flexible fund management software, enabling private investment managers to focus on what they do best: driving returns for their investors. We are backed by leading venture capital firms and a large number of strategic investors.

Maybern is an NYC based company with a strong in-office culture to drive collaboration, and we are looking to make strong additions to our team.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help lead the design and development of our Scenario Modeling product, an entirely new product aimed at transforming how CFOs forecast, analyze, and plan. This role will blend deep technical ownership with leadership. You should bring experience launching complex data products from 0 to 1, and have worked closely with product teams to ship world-class products.

What You'll Do

To thrive in this role, you must be an entrepreneurial engineer who enjoys both solving deep technical challenges and leading teams through ambiguity.

  • Build: Help architect and implement the Scenario Modeling engine, including projection framework, workflow orchestration and complex financial data processing pipelines.

  • Lead: Act as the tech lead for the Scenario Modeling team, shaping the technical roadmap, mentoring engineers, and putting in place scalable team structures.

  • Partner: Work closely with problem experts to develop flexible and intuitive modeling tools that replace legacy spreadsheet workflows.

Who You Are
  • Collaborative. You collaborate well across teams, can distill and incorporate feedback, and communicate clearly and concisely

  • Product Vision. You have a full understanding of how to identify the true needs of the user through research, build through a user-centric lens, and create elegant and functional experiences. You have a relentless product mindset that drives you not only to contribute to engineering execution, but to plan, design, implement, and test features to perfect the user experience

  • Leader. You're eager to shape our technical foundation and will level up team practices and processes. You can take broad guidance and determine the best path forward. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable wearing multiple hats

  • Strategic. You see both the forest and the trees: think big picture, execute fine details. You can plan for the long term while navigating short-term tradeoffs

  • Deeply Technical. You'll work on systems that process millions of records in near real-time, requiring thoughtful approaches to data pipelines, caching strategies, and distributed processing. Our challenges focus on optimizing complex calculations and ensuring responsive user experiences while handling substantial data volumes.

This Could Be a Great Fit If You...
  • Have 7+ years of working experience as an engineer building and shipping world class products with experience handling systems that process millions of records in near real-time

  • Have led product initiatives and have taken features from idea through launch and landing

  • Bring expert level knowledge of backend system architecture and system design

  • Experience with a diverse range of technologies. Plus for experience with the following:

    • Django or similar Python frameworks

    • Celery/Temporal or other distributed worker frameworks

    • Redis/SQS

    • AWS or other cloud platforms

    • Postgres or other SQL solutions

    • Some full stack experience, such as work with Typescript and React

  • Have mentored engineers, been the tech lead for projects and products, and helped build strong engineering cultures

  • Experience working in a fast paced environment to ship features. A plus to have with experience at early stage startups

Benefits
  • We offer a competitive salary + equity package, comprehensive benefits, and a flexible family-friendly work environment. Some of our perks include:

    • Comprehensive healthcare benefits

      • Maybern covers 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums

      • HSA & FSA plans

    • Family-Friendly policies

      • Paid parental leave
