About Arc

Arc is building the first AI-native business cash management platform. We empower high-growth companies to manage, analyze, and act on their financial data through a unified cash management, treasury, and debt-financing platform—powered by AI.

Founded in 2021, Arc is backed by world-class investors (Series A), supports thousands of technology companies as customers, and manages billions of dollars in transaction volume. With offices in NYC and SF, we operate on a Monday–Wednesday in-office model (Thu–Fri optional in-office or WFH).

We’re at an inflection point.

Large enough to matter; small enough to innovate.

The Role

This is a critical role, with expectations unleveled for broader architectural influence, technical leadership, and impact on Arc’s evolving AI-native financial platform. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will own major components across our cash management, treasury, and AI automation systems—designing for reliability, scale, safety, and speed.

You’ll work directly with Arc's Head of Engineering, and partner cross-functionally with leadership, product, data, and security to build the intelligence layer that powers business finance.

What You’ll DoLead architecture and development of Arc’s finance and AI systems
  • Own end-to-end design for major platform surfaces across cash management, treasury, and debt marketplace.

  • Contribute to Arc’s AI agent, Archie, evolving from insights → supervised actions → controlled execution inside the bank.

Build mission-critical, high-reliability financial infrastructure
  • Scale our banking rails, KYC/KYB onboarding flows, ledgering systems, and fund movement pipelines.

  • Deeply consider safety, audibility, and security in every decision.

Drive Arc’s automation roadmap
  • Automate lending workflows (target: 90% automation).

  • Power the AI CFO agent’s ability to take actions, not just deliver insights.

Own strategic technical decisions
  • Identify and implement “fast moving water” opportunities.

  • Influence product direction with a strong owner mindset.

  • Mentor engineers and elevate engineering quality across the team.

What You’ll AchieveIn 30 Days
  • Ramp fully into Arc’s stack, taking ownership of a meaningful component.

  • Understand financial integrations, ledger models, and AI intelligence architecture.

In 60 Days
  • Lead development of a significant feature or system.

  • Improve reliability or performance of a core workflow.

In 90 Days
  • Drive a high-impact roadmap initiative across AI, cash management, or lending automation.

  • Serve as go-to technical lead for a functional area.

Ideal BackgroundRequired
  • 5–7+ years of software engineering experience (strong IC track record).

  • Startup experience + exposure to at least one mid-size or large engineering environment.

  • Strong system design fundamentals and experience scaling distributed systems.

  • Solid understanding of LLMs, agents, embeddings, or vectorized workflows.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
  • Background in fintech, treasury, payments, or regulated environments.

  • Experience with document understanding, orchestration agents, or AI feature development.

  • Familiarity with high-security data systems, audibility, or compliance-heavy infra.

Attributes That Make You Successful Here
  • Owner mentality—operates with autonomy, sees problems end-to-end.

  • Customer-obsessed—builds with empathy for end users.

  • Thinks big—comfortable in ambiguity, innovates quickly.

  • Bias toward action and clarity.

  • High accountability and technical standards.

Why Join Arc Now?
  • Category creation: You’ll build the first AI platform for business cash business management.

  • Massive market: Banking + treasury + AI automation is a multi-trillion-dollar opportunity.

  • PMF already secured: Arc has elite customers, strong economics, and hyper-growth.

  • High impact: Staff engineers here are foundational—this role moves the roadmap.

  • Lean, elite team: Work with exceptional builders; every engineer is high-leverage.
