The Staff Solutions Architect owns end-to-end solutioning for initiatives across Tonal's Business Systems ecosystem - NetSuite, Salesforce, our iPaaS/integration layer, and the connected applications that run our commerce, finance, fulfillment, and service processes.
You are accountable for the full development lifecycle of the initiatives you lead, from understanding the business problem, designing the future process and the system solution, leading the technical design, defining and executing the test approach, and seeing the change through to delivery and adoption.
Tonal's business model spans connected hardware and recurring membership revenue delivered across multiple go-to-market channels. Accordingly, the solutions you design will touch the full commercial and operational value chain - lead-to-quote, order management, fulfillment and forward logistics, customer support, and reverse logistics - as well as the financial processes those flows ultimately feed. Breadth of perspective across that ecosystem is as important to success in this role as depth of expertise in any individual module.
What You Will Do1. Requirements & Process Design
Partner with stakeholders across Sales, Care, Operations, and Finance to define systems strategy, gather and document business requirements, converting ambiguous requests into clear initiatives statements and scoped solutions.
Analyze current-state processes and pain points; design future-state processes that improve outcomes rather than automating existing inefficiencies.
Facilitate design workshops and drive alignment across functions with competing priorities.
2. Solution & Technical Design
Own system solution design across NetSuite, Salesforce, and integrated applications, making explicit build/configure/buy and native/custom trade-offs.
Assist our technical leads in authoring and review of technical design documents, data models, and integration patterns; help set direction for developers and external implementation partners.
Work with technical leads to design integrations with the team's iPaaS platform and custom solutions, defining data schemas, error handling, reprocessing, and reconciliation approaches.
Contribute to enterprise architecture decisions and influence the Business Systems roadmap.
3. Testing & Delivery
Develop test strategy and test cases (functional, integration, regression, UAT) tied back to documented requirements.
Execute and coordinate testing, including stakeholder UAT, and drive defects to resolution.
Own the solution through cutover, hypercare, and handoff to support - delivery means adopted and working, not deployed.
Troubleshoot process, application, and functional issues and manage them to root cause.
4. Practices & Enablement
Establish and uphold solution design standards, documentation expectations, and SDLC discipline within the team.
Apply sound system governance practice - change management, environment and release management, access controls, segregation of duties, and audit trails.
Develop and deliver end-user training and enablement for the systems and processes you deliver.
Mentor analysts, developers, and administrators on solution design, process knowledge, and technical craft.
8+ years designing and deploying NetSuite solutions in enterprise environments, including hands-on configuration and extension
Direct experience with Salesforce Sales and Services Clouds as part of a connected ecosystem - data model, objects, workflows, and how they integrate with ERP systems.
Hands-on experience with iPaaS platforms (MuleSoft, Boomi, Celigo, Workato, or similar), including integration design patterns, error handling, and monitoring.
Strong functional knowledge of financial and accounting processes - order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, record-to-report.
Working knowledge of commercial and operational processes beyond finance: lead-to-quote, order management, fulfillment and forward logistics, customer support, and returns/reverse logistics in omnichannel environments.
Demonstrated ability to convert ambiguous requirements into delivered solutions in complex, integrated environments.
Ability to move in a single day from detailed technical configuration discussions with engineers to future-state strategy conversations with senior business stakeholders.
Proven ability to build cross-functional relationships that make large-scale process and system changes stick.
Comfortable challenging the status quo - with the knowledge to explain why - and leading by example in improving ways of working.
Experience with agile delivery methodologies and common SDLC frameworks.
Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment where context switching, scoping, and committed delivery happen in parallel.
Growth mindset and genuine interest in learning new systems and domains.
Best-practice knowledge of IT General Controls - change management, access controls, segregation of duties - and how to design systems that hold up to audit.
Experience onboarding new SaaS applications into an ERP ecosystem, including vendor evaluation, selection, and implementation oversight.
Familiarity with WMS, 3PL, and carrier integrations.
