Who We Are

Maybern is transforming the way private fund managers effectively manage their funds through cutting edge technology: an operating system with deterministic guard rails underneath, agents on top. Maybern is founded by top engineering experts with deep knowledge of the fund management space.

Private funds manage $15T in capital and are growing at 20% YoY, but with increasing regulatory scrutiny and investor demands for transparency, the need for more modern, fully agentic solutions to help private fund CFOs is crucial.

This is where Maybern comes in.

We are equipping fund managers with a fully agentic operating system for private fund management, enabling private investment managers to focus on what they do best: driving returns for their investors. We are backed by leading venture capital firms and a large number of strategic investors.

Maybern is an NYC based company with a strong in-office culture to drive collaboration, and we are looking to make strong additions to our team.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a Strategic Finance Lead to own Maybern's financial model, planning cycle, and operating metrics, and to be the finance partner to our CEO, Chief of Staff, and department heads. You'll inherit a working function: a planning cadence, a defined ARR/CARR metrics methodology, board and investor packages, and an AI-native operating stack that already automates much of the recurring reporting. Your job is to run it, pressure-test it, and take it to the next level as we prepare for Series C. This is a strategic finance and FP&A role; our Controller owns accounting, so your time goes to analysis and decisions, not close. If you want a seat where the model you build drives what the company does next, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do
  • Plan: Own the company financial model end to end, including the three-year Base / Downside model and FY28 outlook. Run the annual department-level budget, quarterly reforecasts, monthly finance check-ins with department heads, and headcount planning tied to ARR and capacity triggers.

  • Report: Prepare the quarterly board financial package (KPIs, P&L vs. budget, ARR waterfall, runway, reforecast), run the monthly exec finance review, and own the investor reporting package, data room baseline, and path-to-profitability story as we prepare for Series C.

  • Measure: Own the ARR / CARR / NRR / GRR / CAC / LTV definitions and waterfall methodology, CARR-to-ARR conversion tracking, segment P&Ls and gross margin by project and customer, and the RevOps data layer that feeds ARR accuracy (CARR/ARR reconciliation, fund linkage, order-form booking, billing-forecast tracking).

  • Partner: Be the finance voice with Sales on pricing, deal structure, and non-standard order-form terms, and with Product on ROI gating for new SKUs and product investments.

  • Build: Extend the existing AI Finance skill stack and internal dashboard so recurring reporting runs itself and your time goes to analysis, not assembly.

Who You Are
  • Strategic Thinker: You connect department objectives to business outcomes and help leadership force-rank bets.

  • Systems Thinker: You approach finance as workflows and infrastructure, not just spreadsheets. Your models are clean, auditable, and built to be reused.

  • Communicator: You can take a complex model and explain it to a non-finance leader in five minutes, in writing or live, and turn ambiguous data into a narrative.

  • Adaptable Owner: You take an ambiguous problem, frame it, build the tool, and drive it to a decision without waiting for a spec. High ownership, low ego: you name tradeoffs explicitly instead of silently absorbing every finance-adjacent request.

  • AI Fluent: You already use AI tools daily for modeling, analysis, and drafting, and you have a point of view on where AI accelerates finance work and where human judgment must hold.

This Could Be a Great Fit If You Have…
  • 4–8 years of experience spanning investment banking, private equity, or consulting, and at least 2 years in an operating strategic finance / FP&A role at a high-growth SaaS company (Series A–C).

  • Fluency in SaaS business models and metrics, and built KPI infrastructure or dashboards (SQL, Looker / Omni, or similar) rather than only consuming them.

  • Been the first or sole finance owner somewhere and built the model, budget, and board package yourself.

  • Partnered directly with a CEO or founder on board materials, etc.

  • Shipped automation or internal tools that removed manual work from a finance process.

Bonus Points If You Have…
  • Experience with usage- or AUM-based pricing

  • Private markets / fund administration exposure (NAV, waterfalls, capital calls)

  • Company-side fundraising or venture debt process experience

  • Python or SQL fluency

Benefits
  • We offer a competitive salary + equity package, comprehensive benefits, and a flexible family-friendly work environment. Some of our perks include:

    • Comprehensive healthcare benefits

      • Maybern covers 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums

      • HSA & FSA plans

    • Family-Friendly policies

      • Paid parental leave

    • Flexible schedule

      • Flexible PTO / sick leave

      • WFH as needed to fit your needs
