We are looking for a Strategic Product Sales Manager (Learning Technology) to join the Clarivate Teaching and Learning team in the United States.  This is an exciting opportunity to help launch Clarivate’s new product offering in the Teaching and Learning space. Clarivate’s new product line is designed to help colleges and universities improve teaching, learning, faculty innovation, and student success through actionable intelligence, connecting academic strategy, learning experiences, instructional practices, and educational outcomes through a unified intelligence layer. 


As one of the first commercial hires dedicated to this new product line, you will play a pivotal role in introducing a new category of technology to higher education.  During the initial phase of commercialization, you will engage universities to demonstrate the value of the products while simultaneously developing executive relationships and strategic opportunities that support broader adoption of the full vision over time. 


The role is an instrumental part of a small, high-impact commercialization team focused on bringing the products to market and establishing a new category within higher education technology. This role reports to the Director, Product Sales.  We have deep expertise in higher education, teaching and learning, product strategy, and commercialization, and we would love to speak with you if you have experience selling strategic enterprise solutions into colleges and universities and have an established network of academic and institutional leaders. 


About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience  
  • Minimum 7 years of enterprise software, SaaS, or technology sales experience  
  • Minimum 5 years of direct sales experience within higher education institutions  
  • Established network of higher education leaders and decision-makers 
  • Experience selling complex learning technologies, academic software, learning platforms or other strategic higher education technologies  
  • Experience developing and executing territory and account plans   
  • Demonstrated record of achieving or exceeding annual sales quotas  
  • Experience navigating university procurement, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales, contracting, budgeting, governance, and committee review processes  
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the United States

  • Experience creating executive alignment for opportunities without established budgets or purchasing processes

What will you be doing in this role?  

  • Build market awareness and executive interest in the products across colleges and universities, helping establish a new offering within higher education technology 
  • Introduce institutions to an entry-point offerings while positioning our vision for future consideration 
  • Establish and close Early Adopter opportunities across North America through prospecting, industry engagement, referrals, and professional networks 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with senior academic, technology, administrative, and faculty leaders 
  • Build and execute strategic territory and account plans 
  • Lead complex sales opportunities from discovery through contracting and customer transition 
  • Collaborate closely with product, marketing, customer success, and executive leadership teams 
  • Represent Clarivate at conferences, industry events, and executive forums 
  • Accurately manage forecasting and sales activities within the CRM 
  • Provide customer and market feedback to help shape product strategy, commercialization efforts, and go-to-market initiatives 
  • Help build repeatable sales motions, messaging, and best practices for the growing business 

About the Team  

The Clarivate Teaching and Learning team is focused on bringing a new suite of products to colleges and universities seeking to improve teaching effectiveness, faculty innovation, learning outcomes, and student success.  Currently in development with leading institutions, these products will develop into a new category of educational technology designed to provide academic leaders with actionable intelligence that connects learning experiences, academic strategy, and institutional outcome. 


As a member of this team, you will have the rare opportunity to help establish an entirely new category within higher education.  You will engage with Provosts, Vice Provosts, CIOs, teaching and learning teams and faculty.  Success in this role requires the ability to navigate complex university environments while establishing executive-level relationships and helping institutions solve strategic teaching and learning challenges. 


This role works closely with a cross-functional team that includes product management, customer success, marketing, solution experts, and executive leadership.  You will help shape how the market understands and adopts these products.  Success during the early stages of commercialization will be measured not only by revenue generation, but also by creating market awareness, securing institutional engagement, validating use cases, and building the foundation for broader adoption of the full solution over time. 


Hours of Work  

This is a full-time, remote, permanent position within the United States, primarily working core business hours in your local time zone with flexibility to support customers and colleagues across North America and occasionally internationally.  Some travel (<25%) required to customer locations, conferences and team meetings.  Flexibility to accommodate university schedules, executive meetings, and industry events throughout the year. 


Compensation - US only

The expected base salary for this position is $134,000-155,000 USD per year.  This role is eligible for annual bonus earnings.  Individual pay is based upon experience, education, skill and ability, expertise, and relevant factors. In addition to a competitive remuneration package, you will be eligible to participate in a benefits package that includes medical, dental, prescription drug, life insurance, 401k with match, long term disability coverage, vacation, sick time, volunteer time, discount programs, and many more
