Description

Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Drive impact where it matters. As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you’ll lead sourcing strategies that optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance across key product categories. You’ll partner closely with engineering, supply chain, quality, finance, and operations to support new product launches, cost reduction initiatives, and supplier development efforts. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in selecting and managing suppliers, leading negotiations, executing contracts, and driving ongoing performance improvements. Duties/Responsibilities

  • Execute strategic sourcing initiatives, including RFQs, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract execution for assigned commodities or product categories 
  • Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers to support cost, quality, delivery, and risk objectives 
  • Lead and support cost reduction and value engineering initiatives in collaboration with engineering and operations 
  • Partner with product development teams to support sourcing activities for new product introductions (NPI) 
  • Develop and maintain supplier scorecards; monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement 
  • Analyze spend, cost drivers, and market trends to support data driven sourcing decisions 
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and supply agreements to achieve business objectives 
  • Support supplier risk assessments, including capacity, geopolitical, and continuity risks 
  • Ensure sourcing activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements 
  • Collaborate with quality teams to address supplier quality issues and corrective actions 
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to sourcing activities, contracts, and supplier agreements
  • Perform responsibilities in a manner consistent with Schumacher’s purpose, core values and strategic anchors.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem solving skills 
  • Ability to interpret cost models, pricing structures, and financial data 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; ERP or sourcing system experience preferred
  • Spanish bilingual is a plus with demonstrated ability to communicate, negotiate, and build relationships with suppliers in Mexico
  • Able to travel internationally

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field required
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain roles
  • Internal applicants: 6+ months successful demonstration of current position responsibilities, approval from current manager, and a relevant combination of education, continuing education, and experience.
