About the Position

We're looking to hire organized and collaborative Strategy and Operations generalists to assist with the ongoing and long-term operations of our Technology team at Jane Street.

As our firm continues to grow, so has the scope and complexity of our work and projects. This role will rely heavily on problem-solving and communication skills to streamline a whole host of activities across the firm. And while we’re excited about bringing more efficiency to our projects, it’s just as important for us to maintain the integrity of our firm’s collaborative spirit—we put our people over our processes.

This role is far from just operational; you will serve as a key communication pillar between stakeholders across the firm. Your ability to multitask, find creative solutions, work with different personalities, and recognize the nuances of the work will be key to your success.

Some additional responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Leading cross-team projects end-to-end (e.g., scoping, stakeholder alignment, milestone tracking, and delivery) and acting as a flexible resource who can be deployed wherever the team needs support
  • Keeping point on the status of a variety of workstreams, garnering input from key stakeholders when needed
  • Scheduling, planning, and executing large-scale communication efforts like team-wide presentations or AMAs
  • Connecting the dots to eliminate work siloes and helping to manage the expectations of involved parties
  • Leading the development of special projects, ad-hoc analyses, and other activities that support internal teams or address emerging issues
  • Building and improving scalable processes so that recurring operational requests become less time-consuming
  • Bringing a forward-looking lens to team operations: anticipating needs, surfacing emerging issues, and proposing solutions before they become urgent
  • Championing team culture by proactively designing opportunities for cross-group and cross-area connection (e.g., onsites, social events, or other initiatives that strengthen relationships across the team)

We’re looking for people who can deeply integrate into the day-to-day ongoings of our firm to see how all the pieces fit together. We expect that there will be a lot to learn, but you should be excited to dive in, humble about what you don’t know, and eager to make an impact. This role will truly be what you make of it.

About You
  • Experienced in operations, program management, consulting, or a similar role that blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Great with people; you can communicate clearly with colleagues across all types of departments and teams
  • A reliable and flexible team player with a positive, no-job-too-small attitude; you enjoy proactively volunteering to help people and solve problems wherever needed
  • Organized and able to manage multiple concurrent workstreams without dropping threads
  • Can demonstrate intellectual rigor and independence when tackling complex problems that rarely have clean, definitive answers
  • Can think outside the box and respectfully challenge existing methods (e.g., Are we taking the right approach? Are we using the right tools?)
  • Can identify bottlenecks in current processes and brainstorm solutions to anticipate future needs
  • Having financial institution experience is not required; but having an interest and aptitude for technology is preferred
