The Strategy Director leads strategy projects, defines brand and campaign strategies, manages qualitative research, crafts brand narratives, and develops impactful presentations. They support junior team members and improve internal processes.
The Strategy Director leads Brand & Creative Strategy projects at Something Special Studios. They will lead the development of brand, consumer, and cultural insights, using these to plan and define campaign, channel, and brand strategies, and if the project requires it, ideate creatively-driven, culturally-fuelled marketing concepts and experiences for an array of clients.
This person is a working leader with big ideas and strategic rigor who can roll up their sleeves when needed, as well as manage others.
Responsibilities:
- Lead creative marketing projects from research through insights to concept and tactical launch planning for client and SSS initiatives
- Define the brand, communications, experiential, content, and social strategies, ideate creative campaigns and brand activations, plus develop creative briefs, consumer and cultural insights, and more.
- Manage and lead primary and secondary qualitative research, introducing new methods and innovative approaches
- Lead the development of strategic principles, opportunity spaces, and creative briefs to guide creative explorations
- Craft brand stories and campaign narratives
- Develop campaign ecosystems and map consumer journeys
- Advise on campaign talent and/or influencer recommendations as needed
- Own and develop impactful, narrative-driven presentations that articulate key aspects of the brand story, strategy, and creative concept
- Support in the management and development of junior team members
- Improve internal research and strategy processes and deliverables
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of relevant experience in a strategy role
- Strong strategic and conceptual thinking, ability to lead the development of compelling and culturally impactful creative marketing solutions
- Extensive knowledge of what’s moving the needle in culture, and you know how to shape culture, not just react to it
- Exceptional copywriting and storytelling capabilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Resourceful and agile thinker, ready to apply your flexible strategic approach to any number of creative problems and briefs
- Self-starter with strong ambition for yourself, your team, and SSS, always committed to making an idea better
- Experience managing multiple clients/stakeholders across multiple work streams
- Comfortability working independently, as well as experienced in leading teams
