Job Description
Stringer – Reports to Manager of Product Innovation & Shop Operations
Overview
The Stringer – is a highly skilled technical and operational role responsible for the execution, oversight, and refinement of all stringing-related processes within David Yurman (this includes David Yurman Signature, High Jewel and Mainline collections). This individual ensures the precise preparation, assembly, and delivery of stringing kits and finished pieces in alignment with Design, Merchandising, and Production standards.
This role serves as a critical partner across Men’s, Fine, and High Jewelry, as well as Marketing and Client Services, supporting both commercial and one-of-a-kind creations. The Stringer upholds the highest standards of craftsmanship, accuracy, and discretion, while operating with agility in a fast-paced, deadline-driven luxury environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Stringing Kit Development & Execution
- Oversee the sorting, preparation, and assembly of all stringing kits for retail orders, ensuring strict adherence to Design-approved layouts and technical specifications
- Maintain consistency and accuracy across all materials, components, and finished pieces
- Design Interpretation & Prototyping
- Translate design concepts and CAD/layouts into physical mockups for cross-functional review
- Partner closely with Design and Product Development to refine layouts and troubleshoot construction challenges
- Cross-Functional Support
- Serve as the primary stringing resource for Men’s, Fine, and High Jewelry, as well as Marketing initiatives
- Execute and manage sample production for market appointments, press events, photoshoots, and internal presentations
- Support high-priority custom, VIP, and one-of-a-kind client orders with urgency and precision
- Repair & Special Projects
- Collaborate with the Repair division on complex or high-value stringing repairs
- Manage and execute special order requests, ensuring alignment with original design intent and quality standards
- Quality Control & Material Integrity
- Conduct thorough inspection of all materials and components prior to assembly
- Identify inconsistencies or defects and escalate as needed to maintain brand standards
- Inventory & Operational Support
- Support and help lead quarterly inventory counts, ensuring accuracy of stringing materials and components
- Maintain organized workspaces, tools, and material flow in accordance with operational best practices
- Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, organization, and scalability within stringing workflows
- Document and standardize best practices for consistency across the department
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in stringing
- Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to precision craftsmanship
- Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities, particularly in construction and material handling
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Clear communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Experience supporting luxury product development, jewelry production, or a similar artisanal environment preferred

Estimate Pay Rate: $39 - $43/hour
Base pay is one component of David Yurman’s total compensation package, which may also include the following for eligible employees: access to healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, Summer Fridays (corporate roles), generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
