This is an exciting role for a driven and highly organized person to join our warm and collaborative Network Schools Team. Reporting to the Chief Education Officer, the Summer Education Assistant will have the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders and gain invaluable insight into the day-to-day operations of a growing, nationally recognized youth development organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and administrative support to DREAM’s Chief Education Officer and the Network Education Team.
  • Act as the project coordinator and lead logistics for leadership meetings, including professional development training, institutes, and funder visits (scheduling, food, space, technology set-up, etc.); 
  • Manage visitor requests and questions (support with scheduling, planning, and managing the visits)
  • Produce and edit internal and external correspondence and materials, as needed;
  • Support the Chief Education Officer before, during, and after key meetings with reminders about content, notes, and follow-up communications; 
  • Support special Network or School events, as needed, including early morning or evening hours; 
  • Build meaningful and trusting relationships with staff, students and families to facilitate exceptional student outcomes and contribute to a high-performing school culture; 
  • Support the Chief Education Officer with occasional personal tasks, as needed; 
  • Lead additional projects, as needed. 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; 
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in administrative work preferred;
  • Experience in education and/or non-profit settings, preferred; 
  • Experience using Google Workspace (Calendar, Docs, Spreadsheets, Slides), highly preferred;
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; 
  • Solutions-oriented attitude; 
  • Strong work ethic, supported by commitment and airtight follow-up and follow-through;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Organized, proactive and detail-oriented with superior time management and troubleshooting skills; 
  • Impeccable integrity, including the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion; 
  • A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the belief that all students can succeed, and a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community.

Working Expectations

  • May 1, 2025 to August 31, 2025
  • Up to 35 hours a week
  • In person at one of our three school sites (sites vary by day) located in East Harlem and the South Bronx
  • While this role is temporary, there is strong potential for it to become a full-time opportunity for candidates who demonstrate exceptional performance and alignment with our team's goals while in the position

Compensation

  • The rate for this position for incoming staff is between $24 and $29 per hour. New hires are typically brought into the role at a salary closer to the start of the range depending on qualifications and internal equity.
