Super Scrum Master / Program Manager

Client: Wealth Management Technology (Fortune 500 Financial Services)

Location: Hybrid – NYC

Duration: 12+ months

Start: ASAP

A leading wealth management technology organization is seeking an experienced Super Scrum Master/Program Manager to take ownership of a program currently flagged at-risk (red status) and drive it back to a healthy delivery state (green). This role requires managing three concurrent Scrum teams, so strong multi-team coordination, stakeholder management, and servant-leadership skills are essential. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for someone who thrives in ambiguity and can quickly diagnose and resolve delivery blockers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Scrum Master for three Scrum teams simultaneously, facilitating ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retros, backlog refinement) across all teams
  • Assess the current state of the program to identify root causes behind its red status (delivery delays, quality issues, misalignment, blocked dependencies, team dysfunction, etc.)
  • Build and execute a recovery plan to bring the program back to green, including clear metrics/KPIs to track progress
  • Remove impediments and proactively manage risks and dependencies across teams
  • Partner closely with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, and senior stakeholders to realign scope, timelines, and expectations
  • Improve team velocity, predictability, and delivery quality through coaching and process improvements
  • Provide regular status reporting and escalation to program/senior leadership
  • Foster collaboration and communication across the three teams to reduce duplication and misalignment

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, with demonstrated experience managing multiple teams concurrently
  • Proven track record of turning around at-risk/red programs
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum frameworks (SAFe experience a plus given multi-team scope)
  • Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills
  • Experience in wealth management or asset management strongly preferred
  • Scrum certification required (CSM, PSM, or equivalent); SAFe Agilist or SPC a plus
  • Comfortable operating with minimal documentation/direction in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience specifically in wealth management or asset management technology platforms
  • Experience coaching/mentoring other Scrum Masters
  • Familiarity with JIRA/Confluence or equivalent Agile tooling at scale
