About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.


The Supervisor, Forecasting position supervises a team of financial analysts responsible for supporting the Transmission portfolio with detailed financial forecasting of the current year and five-year plan at the project level. The supervisor is responsible for all supervisory aspects of the team, including professional development, mentoring, coaching, workload management, and leadership. The supervisor ensures the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of the team’s work, including financial forecasting, accruals, variance analysis, in-service forecasting, project close-out support, and related reporting activities. 

The monthly forecasting cycle includes working with Project Managers and other stakeholders to ensure project forecasts are entered correctly into forecasting systems, accruals are accurately calculated and submitted to Corporate Finance, and projects are in-serviced and closed out in a timely manner. The supervisor leads or supports monthly financial review, accrual review, and close-out discussions with Project Managers and ensures the forecast is managed appropriately in both the Direct and Settled views. 

The supervisor is also responsible for ensuring the team understands key project financial processes, including budget tracking, purchase orders and contracts, CIAC, SAP Work Management, PowerPlan, Unifier/Ecosys, CREWS, OPPM, PlannerDash, and other forecasting/reporting tools. 

Work location will be determined based on business needs and the selected candidate.

Responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrate commitment to and foster team commitment to the FirstEnergy Core Values and Behaviors, including safety. 
  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, workload management, and professional development for a team of financial analysts. 
  • Ensure the team provides accurate and timely support to Project Managers for project financials, forecasting, accruals, variance analysis, and in-service planning. 
  • Lead monthly financial review, accrual review, and close-out meetings with Project Managers and other stakeholders. 
  • Ensure project forecasts are accurately reflected in forecasting systems 
  • Communicate monthly and annual forecast updates, risks, drivers, and variances for the Transmission capital portfolio to leadership. 
  • Ensure the team is focused on meeting capital targets, identifying forecast risks, and recommending appropriate forecast adjustments. 
  • Oversee budget tracking against purchase orders and contracts and ensure project-level financial data is accurate and complete. 
  • Ensure monthly accruals are accurately calculated, reviewed, and submitted in accordance with established timelines. 
  • Track progress and provide forecast updates for the in-service plan, including support for timely project in-servicing and close-out. 
  • Ensure the team understands and appropriately reflects CIAC billing activity against projects. 
  • Develop, maintain, and improve analysis, reporting, and forecasting tools to support Project Management, Program Delivery, Finance, and other stakeholders. 
  • Support responses to data requests from internal stakeholders for Transmission and, where applicable, Distribution-related activity. 
  • Promote consistent use of forecasting, reporting, and project financial management tools, including SAP, PowerPlan, Unifier/Ecosys, CREWS, OPPM, PlannerDash, and related systems. 
  • Provide periodic training and guidance to Project Management staff and new team members on forecasting processes, reporting tools, accruals, and project financial expectations. 
  • Build relationships and credibility across the organization by providing sound service, responsiveness, and clear communication. 
  • Conduct business-specific research, ad hoc analysis, and process improvement activities to support accurate forecasting and informed decision-making. 
  • Promote a team environment that supports accountability, urgency, continuous improvement, quality work, and meeting deadlines. 
  • Support storm activities as needed.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred. 
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required. 
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, team lead, or project lead experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate moderately complex financial, project, and forecasting issues and develop alternatives and recommendations. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access. 
  • Working knowledge of FE-specific systems such as SAP, PowerPlan, Unifier/Ecosys, CREWS, OPPM, PlannerDash, and related forecasting/reporting tools preferred. 
  • Ability to lead work independently, manage competing priorities, meet established deadlines, and ensure the team delivers quality, accurate work. 
  • Support of storm activities may be required.

FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location.  In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.

The estimated pay range for this role is $111,350 - $157,200.  The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range $133,620-$188,640.
