The Supply and Demand Planning Manager leads demand forecasting and supply planning, optimizing inventory, ensuring product availability, and aligning cross-functional teams to balance customer demand and supply capabilities.
The Supply and Demand Planning Manager is responsible for leading the demand forecasting and supply planning processes to ensure product availability while optimizing inventory and minimizing costs. This role drives alignment between sales, supply chain, and finance teams to balance customer demand with supply capabilities. The Manager oversees the S&OP inputs for demand and supply planning and ensures data-driven, accurate, and responsive planning processes that support business objectives.
Functions and Responsibilities
Demand Planning:
- Develop and manage the demand forecasting process in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams.
- Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and promotional activity to create accurate forecasts.
- Lead monthly demand review meetings and coordinate forecast adjustments.
- Updates the demand planning model (MPS)
Supply Planning:
- Translate demand forecasts into actionable supply and inventory plans.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and logistics to ensure timely fulfillment of customer needs.
- Identify capacity constraints and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Updates the supply planning model (MRP)
- Oversee the end-to-end procurement process (strategic sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation, and contracting).
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Identify cost reduction and value improvement opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with corporate procurement policies and sustainability standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, and Finance to ensure alignment on forecast, inventory, and financial plans.
- Participate in or lead supply chain elements of the S&OP process.
- Communicate forecast changes and supply issues proactively to stakeholders.
Inventory Optimization:
- Develop inventory strategies to balance service levels and working capital.
- Monitor inventory health, excess and obsolete stock, and initiate corrective actions.
Process Improvement & Reporting:
- Implement tools and techniques to improve forecast accuracy and supply efficiency.
Track KPIs such as forecast accuracy, inventory turns, service level, and supply performance. - Drive continuous improvement in planning processes and systems.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-5 years of experience in supply chain, operations planning, or related roles, with at least 2 years in an S&OP leadership role.
Skills and Competencies:
- Deep understanding of S&OP, demand/supply planning, and integrated business planning processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large datasets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with Netsuite (ERP) tools
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence across multiple levels of the organization and drive consensus in a matrix environment.
- Results-driven with strong organizational and time management skills.
