Mod Op is an insights-driven marketing agency that merges AI, data science, and human creativity to deliver efficient, effective, and sustainable growth for clients across B2C and B2B. Our teams support category‑leading brands in CPG, technology, energy, hospitality, and more, and we’re investing heavily in proprietary AI tools—like our Brand Agent—to accelerate strategy and creative development. Recent growth through acquisitions has expanded our capabilities and footprint across the U.S. and Canada. We are one of the fastest‑growing agencies in the U.S.

We’re looking for an SVP Head of Brand Strategy to lead a high‑performing team that builds enduring brand platforms and drives business impact for enterprise clients. You will set the strategic standard across brand positioning, architecture, messaging, and go‑to‑market narratives while partnering closely with Creative, Communications/PR, Media, Data Science/Analytics, and Client Partnerships. This is a hands‑on, pitch‑forward, deeply client‑facing leadership role for a modern strategist who blends qualitative craft with data, experimentation, and AI‑enabled workflows. You’re an expert storyteller who can lead the room—live or virtual—turning insight into sharp creative direction and breakthrough work across B2C, D2C, and B2B.

What you’ll do:

Leadership and vision

- Define and inspire Mod Op’s brand strategy approach (philosophy, tools, templates, guides) to raise the strategic bar agency‑wide and create a consistent way of tackling briefs.

- Mentor and grow a diverse strategy team with hands‑on coaching, clear standards, and pathways for craft mastery and career development, with a strong focus on growing internal talent into future leaders.

- Serve as a proactive client advocate and trusted advisor to senior stakeholders; foster senior client relationships, facilitate C‑suite work sessions, and guide complex organizations through brand transformations.

- Own the strategic direction for brand strategy and steward inter‑agency teams with Creative,  Account and departmental leaders to align around one clear, actionable strategy.

- Develop and deliver thought leadership that advances the discipline and pioneers how strategy integrates emerging technologies across research, analytics, and storytelling.

Strategic craft and integration

- Lead the brand strategy discipline across priority accounts: define brand purpose, positioning, value propositions, architecture/portfolio strategy, and audience frameworks.

- Connect cultural trends, customer behavior, and brand equity to identify the “Irresistible Truth” at the heart of each brand, translating insight into persuasive narratives and channel‑agnostic briefs.

- Build integrated communications strategies that define the role of each channel and tactic from brand to demand; orchestrate programs across PR/earned, social, content, performance media, experiential, and partnerships.

- Build and evolve message frameworks, naming/nomenclature systems, and visual/verbal brand guidelines with Design and Creative leadership.

- Oversee creation of clear, compelling case studies (including award‑show caliber) that tie brave creativity to tangible business impact.

Measurement, data, and AI

- Operationalize brand measurement: establish KPIs (awareness, consideration, preference, equity), design testing/learning agendas, and partner with Analytics on MMM, incrementality, and brand‑lift studies.

- Champion Mod Op’s AI‑enabled tools (e.g., Brand Agent) and third‑party platforms for audience insight, competitive intelligence, creative testing, and forecasting; codify best practices and governance.

Growth and business development

- Serve as executive sponsor and lead strategist on new‑business pursuits; craft compelling POVs, cases, and workshops that convert prospects to partners.

- Manage resourcing and budgets in collaboration with Operations and Account leadership.

- Help expand the role of brand strategy across new and existing client engagements.

Requirements

- 12+ years of brand strategy experience in top‑tier agencies and/or consultancies, leading multi‑market brand platforms and integrated campaigns.

- Proven success shaping brands in at least two of: CPG, technology/SaaS, energy/industrial, hospitality/travel, entertainment, or consumer electronics; depth across B2C, D2C, and B2B.

- Mastery in research and insight generation: qual (ethnography, IDIs, co‑creation), quant (segmentations, TURF, conjoint/max‑diff), and social/behavioral data; ability to design research and learning plans that uncover actionable insights.

- Fluency connecting brand to go‑to‑market: comms architecture, full‑funnel planning, content ecosystems, and retail/ecommerce implications.

- Strong literacy in marketing analytics, brand tracking, experimentation, creative testing, and AI‑/data‑enabled workflows.

- Executive presence with expert‑level storytelling, facilitation, and persuasion; ability to build a rock‑solid case for big ideas and command a room.

- Demonstrated people leadership: hiring, coaching, performance management, building inclusive, high‑trust teams, and growing future leaders.

- Highly collaborative, bridging creative, analytics, media, technology, and research/insights to focus teams on clear, outcome‑driven strategies and growth‑driving ideas.

How success is measured:

- Client impact: brand and business KPI movement tied to positioning and go-to-market.

- Creative impact: quality and effectiveness of work enabled by strong briefs and clarity of brand.

- Growth: organic expansion and new-business wins influenced by your leadership.

- Team health: engagement, retention, and development of strategy talent.

- Operational excellence: on-time, on-budget delivery and scalable processes.

Travel and location:

- Remote-first within the United States; periodic travel for key client workshops, new-business presentations, and team on-sites.
