Job Description:

We are looking for an SVP to lead Global Unified Media Strategy for one of our largest clients. In this role, you would be the lead Global Strategist and work closely with our local market Media Planning, Analytics, Insights, Technology, and Channel teams at Dentsu. You would have a team of US strategists on the business who would report directly into you. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, you will apply your experience to assess insights, cultural and societal trends, media developments, creative influences, and business dynamics. Your objective will be to create fresh and informed recommendations for global communications and media strategies and executions.

With our best-in-class expertise in data, creativity, media, technology, and performance channels, we empower our clients to build their brands and transform their businesses. This role is ideal for someone passionate about audiences, media, data, mentorship, multi-channel strategies, industry insights, and promoting client relationships.

A command of Media and Audience Insights is crucial in this role to mentor and lead your team in developing insights that ensure outcome-led planning. You must have experience in building Strategic Playbooks (global experience a plus). An understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and syndicated tools will be beneficial.   

We need someone who is an accomplished strategy trailblazer with experience in best-in-class communications and media strategy, who excels at cross-team collaboration and who can create positive, meaningful change.  

Responsibilities:

STORYTELLIING   

  • Create presentation styles or techniques that are recognized and replicable

  • You can deliver complex ideas in a simple, easy to digest manner

  • Present to C-suite and achieve high-stake outcomes   

  • Develop hands-on strategies and stories that change the way a client not only thinks about their business, but acts as a result  

COUNSEL 

  • Establish a career partnership with assigned clients that transcends roles, while leading the communications strategy to ensure our services meet expectations, achieve our goals, and remain modern and industry leading. 

  • Be a global media partner to our Dentsu Creative and iProspect counterparts in our local markets, understanding the nuance of media capabilities and provide guidance as it ties back to global strategy

  • Be a visible part of shaping the strategy team culture leading growth for all direct reports inclusive of training, regular check-ins to discuss performance and organization of team deliverables, and contributes to everyone’s growth and wellbeing  

  • Develop and present expertise that inspires action 

  • Teacher of how to better manage a group of any shape or size to drive growth

  • Not just a visible part of the team or agency culture, but also a leader of a practice area that opens up new horizons for the agency, where possible

CONNECTING THE DOTS      

  • Originates strategies that change business operations; can provide Global Media principles and playbooks that help drive consistency and collaboration across global client teams

  • Ability to deliver Media-led global playbooks that provide direction to markets

  • Fundamentally connects everything to a clients' business or view on marketing

  • Collaborate with dentsu teams to align client and agency needs, promoting a unified “one team” mentality

  • Identifies gaps and marry different parts of the business to yield better results

  • Lead the development of data-driven strategies to inform testing across messaging, creative, audience, frequency, and channel mix.

  • Evaluate and advocate for strategic recommendations, ensuring alignment with goals and promoting tactics, platform advancements, and tech partnerships.

  • Inspire creativity by leading teams to create new solutions and identify broader opportunities

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in Media and/or Communications Strategy (must have at least 5 years of Media-specific experience)

  • Strong understanding of creative strategy and experience partnering with inter-agency teams and contributing as part of an IAT

  • Fluency across different media channels (specifically digital), to improve communications and achieve brand and performance KPIs

  • Mastery in interpreting data and research to develop meaningful insights 

  • 10+ years managing/supervising a team of employees  

  • Experience navigating and communicating the complexities of the media landscape with diverse teams, and developing inter-disciplinary partnerships 

  • Experienced storyteller and presenter, accomplished in developing and delivering strategic presentations with the ability to think on one's feet

  • Mastery of the entire media ecosystem, with the ability to bring, strategic insights on how we evolve as an agency 

The annual base salary range for this position is $163,000-$260,000. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law. Additionally, this position is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.

Employees who live within a commutable distance of one of our hub offices, currently located in Chicago, metro Detroit, Los Angeles, and New York City, are required and expected to work from the office three days per week (two days per week for employees based in Los Angeles). Dentsu may designate other Hub offices at any time. Those who live outside a commutable range may be designated as remote, depending on the role and business needs. Regardless of your work location, we expect our employees to be flexible to meet the needs of our Company and clients, which may include attendance in an office.
