Who We Are
Tomo is a digital mortgage company on a mission to eliminate the greed and complexity in lending, helping homebuyers save thousands of dollars. Our AI-driven customer experience makes the lending process faster, less frustrating, and more affordable. By passing these savings directly to homebuyers, we eliminate excessive fees and inflated rates that cost Americans billions each year. Backed by top-tier venture investors, including Ribbit, Citi Ventures, NFX and Progressive Insurance, Tomo is poised to become one of the most valuable fintech startups of our generation.
The elevator pitch…
This is a rare opportunity for mentorship and training by a visionary capital markets executive who has shaped a generation of housing finance innovation and talent (that's our words - not his). The Tomo Systematic Capital Markets analyst will support and eventually drive automation and systemization in pricing, loan product creation, and investor relations with correspondent banks.
What You'll Do:
Improve efficiency and accuracy in our lock workflows to ensure sales and customer requests are fulfilled in a timely manner
Built tools to enable us to “Watch the money” by ensuring that loans meet our revenue requirements and investors price our loans properly
Lead a range of quantitative projects to enable us to better understand and monetize our business
Work on both our systems for MBS and whole loan trading
What Makes You a Great Fit:
You’re a Systems Thinker: You don't just "do" tasks; you automate them. You enjoy finding ways to make things run faster and more profitably.
A Technical Toolkit: You’re comfortable working with Python and SQL or another programming langauge and you’re already experimenting with AI-based automations (like Gemini or Claude) to level up your output.
The "Scrappy" Factor: You have a bias toward action. If there isn't a clear path forward, you figure it out. You’re great at finding resourceful, clever ways to get a project across the finish line.
Detail-Oriented: You understand that your work has direct financial consequences, so you’re the type of person who checks the math one last time before hitting send.
Naturally Curious: You’re a sponge for information. You’re constantly asking questions and trying to understand how all the moving parts of the business fit together.
Experience: You have 0–2 years of experience and are ready to hit the ground running.
You may also have the extras…
A quantitative degree mixed with a qualitative minor, or a solid foundation in Finance or Economics.
You’ve spent time in a previous role where business meets tech, and you’re comfortable translating goals into technical solutions.
What’s in It for You?...
Career growth: Multiple paths within Tomo.
Competitive compensation: $75,000-$80,0000.
Equity ownership: All teammates receive stock options.
Coaching and mentorship: Build a foundation for a career on the street.
Working at a company with a strong culture which can see and hear you.
This role will be based in our NYC office on a hybrid schedule: Mon-Wed on-site, and Thurs/Fri WFH
Closing…
There's no such thing as a perfect candidate, and we don’t expect you to meet 100% of the above criteria. Ultimately, we're looking for a creative optimist with grit and determination, who is excited to face the challenges of a growing startup that’s shaking up an industry. We'd love to talk to you about how and why you can see yourself growing into this role, and we are especially open to candidates with non-traditional backgrounds and experience. Let’s connect!
