About the Position
Reporting to the Director of IT Infrastructure, the Systems Administrator serves as a member of the Technology team and will be responsible for providing systems administration of Shed Infrastructure systems, coordination with other Shed divisions for administration of building technology systems, and management of the helpdesk system and front-line technical support for The Shed’s staff. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for tracking all instances of support by creating IT tickets using ticket-tracking system. The Systems Administrator will be in charge of keeping current systems updated and running smoothly. The Systems Administrator will also be responsible for onboarding new employees: creating accounts, setting up workstations, and introducing new employees to IT systems at The Shed. They will be responsible for providing a smooth employee experience to Shed staff with all IT systems. The Systems Administrator will work with the rest of the Technology Infrastructure department and assist with Visitor Experience technologies and support when needed.

The Systems Administrator should evaluate existing processes and practices and recommend improvements. The Systems Administrator must have good documentation skills and keep a reliable record of all changes and improvements made to IT systems. They will work closely with the Director of IT Infrastructure to develop and execute projects to improve Infrastructure IT systems including wired and wireless networks, phone system, server and cloud infrastructure and networked AV equipment.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Cloud services administration: administration of systems and user management in Google Workspace, Active Directory, Office 365, Intune, Jamf, the Hosted voice system, Adobe Enterprise, Slack, ProofHub, VenueOps, Tessitura (CRM), 1Password
  • Network administration: administration of switches (VLAN configuration), 802.1x management (Cisco ISE MAB configuration, authentication troubleshooting), Wi-Fi (maintaining, troubleshooting and replacing Ruckus WAPs), DNS and DHCP configuration and troubleshooting, VPN configuration and troubleshooting (SonicWall), Cisco Umbrella (deployment)
  • Server administration: Active Directory and Domain controller administration, Group Policy Management, Azure Active Directory synchronization, WSUS (updates), WDS and MDT (deployment) configuration and management, Print server administration
  • Cloud and virtualization administration: AWS (creating AMI instances and load balancers, adjusting security groups), Hyper-V (creating new VMs, configuring networking)
  • Develops and manages projects and coordinates internal resources and outside vendors to execute them
  • Collaborates with Facilities, Engineering, and Security departments to maintain and improve proprietary building tech systems (BMS, security cameras, access control) and Production and Visual Arts departments for AV system management
  • Maintains vendor relations for IT procurement and monthly cost accounting for Technology Division.
  • Troubleshoots IT problems and provide support in-person, over the phone, and remotely
  • Records all instances of support into the ticket-tracking software, analyzes support tickets, and identifies areas for improvement
  • Proposes new system and process changes to improve IT systems and support performance
  • Keep reliable record and documentation of all changes and improvements
  • Keep track of equipment and update the IT inventory system
  • Manage procurement, provision, install, troubleshoot, upgrade, and repair hardware (desktops and laptops), software, peripheral components (keyboards, mice, etc.), and mobile devices
  • Collaborates with HR and Senior managers on onboarding/offboarding procedures and new employee training

Qualifications and Qualities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of Google products, including Google Workplace suite
  • Knowledge of AWS, especially EC2, ELB and WAF
  • Knowledge of digital signage systems
  • Knowledge of digital audio/visual conferencing systems
  • Knowledge of Cisco products for L2, L3
  • Knowledge of network firewalls
  • Knowledge of Linux, macOS and Windows operating environments
  • Knowledge of mobile devices and Mobile Device Management
  • Ability to work in a team environment and manage relationships with staff members in multiple departments
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills
