The Sr. Software Engineer role at Con Edison focuses on designing, building, and modernizing enterprise systems that support the companys critical work and asset management operations. The position involves experience with developing in Java, .NET and SQL to support integration review processes. Additionally, candidates should have experience implementing solutions in leading Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) platforms such as IBM Maximo. This is part of a major initiative to replace legacy systems with integrated, cloud-ready solutions.
This role also demands strong technical depth and versatility in full Stack web development using Microsoft tech stack (.NET, JAVA, JavaScript, Angular etc.) and Oracle database. The ideal candidate must be willing to learn off-the-shelf products and other programming languages, frameworks, and integration technologies. Candidates with prior experience in Azure cloud, Azure AI, Kubernetes and IBM Maximo will be preferred.
ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilities- Partner with cross-functional teams and vendors to implement a best-in-class enterprise EAM platform and integrate it seamlessly with core systemssecure, reliable, and scalable
- Collaborate on designing and developing solution architecture and technical patterns that accelerate teams while maintaining compliance and safety
- Develop and customize interfaces, workflows and APIs that reduce friction and deliver an exceptional user experience
- Own the full lifecycledesign, code, test and deploy with CI/CD discipline and clean release practices
- Produce clear, actionable technical documentation that makes onboarding and handoffs effortless
- Engineer and execute data migrations from legacy systems with airtight validation and smooth cutovers
- Identify performance bottlenecks and deliver creative, high-impact optimizations through code and architecture improvements
- Work closely with QA teams to ensure flawless execution and production stability
- Develops APIs and web applications (front-end/back-end) using .NET,Java, SQL and Azure cloud technologies
- Perform data analysis and develop complex queries/programs using Oracle SQL
- Develop business acumen and supporting applications (IBM Maximo) specifically in utility asset and work management domain
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years full-time work experience in Information Technology or a related field or
- Associate's Degree and a minimum of 5 years full-time work experience in Information Technology or a related field or
- High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 7 years full-time work experience in Information Technology or a related field
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering and a minimum of 5 years full-time work experience in Information Technology with a focus on software development paired with strong full stack capabilities
- Proficiency in .NET, JAVA, JavaScript, SQL, RESTful APIs, and web services, required
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and modern development frameworks, required
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving business needs, required
- Proven expertise in web development, including strong skills in SQL and API integrations, required
- Conversant in emerging technologies and practices, e.g. AI, Cloud (SaaS, PaaS), mobile, sensors (Internet of Things), required
- Comfortable and skilled at selling new processes/techniques and have the ability to communicate designs and give persuasive presentations, required
- Ability to interact with all levels of management and communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience, required
- Demonstrated experience in AI development to design, implement, and operationalize AI-driven solutions, preferred
- Experience with mobile application development, preferred
- Familiarity with Maximo integration framework and MAS 8.x DevOps implementation, preferred
- Prior experience in the utility industry and/or work and asset management, preferred
- Experience with enterprise systems, workflow design, and integration frameworks, preferred
- Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills
- Driver's License Required
- Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as a hard hat, gloves, and safety shoes when required
- Ability to be flexible to work off-hours as required to support deployments and resolve production problems
