Northrop Grumman is seeking a Tax Manager to join our team in support of the Tax Reporting Group and Sector Tax Lead Group. We are looking for a qualified candidate who can help manage the Company’s federal and state income tax compliance, provide support to our business units, and ensure the proper tax treatment of the Company’s largest book-to-tax differences. Additional responsibilities include reviewing state apportionment, preparing state income tax forecasts and providing assistance with special projects. We’re also seeking someone with the ability to drive innovation by identifying and implementing technology, data, and process improvements. The position is based at Northrop Grumman’s corporate office in Falls Church, Virginia.


Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create scalable calculation models and processes to accurately record the financial statement impact of tax positions.

• Identify, develop and assist in implementing technology tools and process improvements for data collection and analysis, specifically related to contracts and state taxes.

• Act as a liaison between sector tax leads and finance accounting staff regarding tax and accounting issues.

• Assist with integrated business plan, state apportionment review, and state cash tax forecasts.

• Facilitate sector tax leads quarterly meetings to identify tax opportunities and risks in tax reporting.

• Represent the tax reporting group in special projects and effectively communicate relevant information to stakeholders within tax and reporting.

• Perform additional analyses as needed, including but not limited to: R&D credit studies, Section 174 studies, Pillar 2, State Tax Nexus review, UNICAP studies, etc.

• Provide support to Corporate Tax for transaction-related assistance in sector M&A activities.

• Review contracts and assist in the evaluation of the tax requirements and implications.

• Assist with data collection and preparation of responses for the IRS examinations.

• Conduct federal and state tax research when required, using available research tools.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proven ability to work effectively in a team-based environment, demonstrating a hands-on approach.
• Strong multitasking skills, the ability to work independently, self-motivated and demonstrate strong judgement and decision-making skills.

• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills, as well as project management and interpersonal skills. The ability to prioritize and balance requests in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance.
• CPA certification plus 8 years of progressive relevant tax experience in public accounting and/or a large corporate environment.

• Proficiency in Complex tax concepts applicable to corporations.

• Experience with ASC740 preparation and analysis.
• Proficiency in tax research tools and Microsoft Office.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with software like SAP, CostPoint, HFM, Analysis Office and CorpTax.
• Strong data analytics skills, including experience with Tableau and Alteryx software.

• Significant experience with research and development tax credits, foreign-derived intangible income and state taxes.

• Familiarity with the impact of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act for tax reporting purposes.

• Preferred background in Manufacturing/Aerospace/Defense Industry, Big 4 Accounting, or publicly traded company experience.

Salary Range: $138,100.00 - $207,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
