About the Firm
Our client is a registered investment advisory (RIA) firm headquartered in Texas. The firm operates under a fiduciary standard and is built around a client-first philosophy, offering a fully integrated approach across financial planning, portfolio management, and income planning.
Their client base is predominantly retired individuals with Social Security income, pensions, investment and stock accounts, and straightforward single-state filings. The firm has been offering tax preparation as part of its integrated service model, with that work currently handled by outside providers. They're now ready to bring it fully in-house, and the Tax Manager will step into an existing book of client work from day one.
About the Role
The Tax Manager will be stepping into a well-established environment with an existing client base and integrated workflows already in place. While tax compliance is a new internal function, the foundation is already there: a well-defined book of clients, strong existing relationships, and a planning team that has been working alongside these clients for years.
The role is compliance-focused, with additional responsibilities spanning extension deadlines, quarterly estimates, tax advisory, business development, and special projects. Over time, this person will have the opportunity to shape how tax services grow and evolve at the firm, including building out a bookkeeping department.
Responsibilities
Own tax compliance for an existing book of client work, transitioning responsibility fully in-house from outside providers
Prepare, review, and sign off on tax returns independently
Serve as the tax advisor inside client meetings, including Roth conversion discussions, estate planning conversations, and advisory work alongside the financial planning team
Build the internal workflows, processes, and standards that will govern the tax function going forward
Participate in business development efforts
Lay the groundwork for an internal bookkeeping function as the firm scales

5+ years of tax experience in public accounting, with demonstrated strength in individual compliance, including W-2 earners, retirees, rental property, and investment accounts

Strong communicator who can translate tax concepts clearly for clients without accounting backgrounds
Located in the state of Texas and comfortable working independently in a remote environment with occasional travel as needed
Benefits
Competitive salary commensurate with experience
Benefits package available, details to be discussed during the process
Fully remote with occasional travel as needed
