Role Overview:

We are seeking an accomplished Tax Managing Director to lead our tax function for our Real Assets business. This executive will play a critical role in shaping tax planning, structuring, and reporting across our global triple net, real estate credit and digital infrastructure platforms. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills to ensure tax efficiency, compliance, and strategic alignment with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day tax function for the Blue Owl Real Assets business

  • Partner with investment, accounting, finance, fundraising and legal teams to align tax planning and operations with business goals

  • Advise on tax implications of acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, and capital markets transactions and drive the tax analysis and necessary processes for deal structuring

  • Develop and implement tax strategies that optimize firm-wide investment structures, with a focus on REITs and real estate-related vehicles.

  • Manage new product structuring and fundraising support, including modeling, fund/investment structuring, investor calls and information for investor reporting

  • Oversee US and international tax compliance, including managing quarterly and annual REIT tests, partnership allocations and carry, required tax distributions and tracking partnership/partner tax basis and capital accounts

  • Manage relationships with tax advisors, external auditors, and regulatory authorities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing tax team, fostering professional growth and technical excellence

Qualifications

  • CPA Required

  • Advanced degree in Taxation, Accounting, or related field

  • Minimum 17+ years of progressive tax experience, including leadership roles in asset management, private equity, or real estate sectors

  • Proven track record advising on real estate structures, compliance, and tax planning

  • Strong knowledge of partnership taxation, corporate tax, and international tax considerations

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and influence senior stakeholders

  • Exceptional ability to convey complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals

It is expected that the base annual salary range for this New York City-based position will be $250,000 to $300,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
