Role Overview:

As the Senior Manager, Tax Solutions, you play a critical role in scaling and evolving our tax filing and advisory offering. You bring deep expertise in small business and individual tax services, and excel at building structured, repeatable, and high-performing operations. You are passionate about operational excellence, capable of balancing strategic thinking with tactical execution, and dedicated to leading a best-in-class tax solution our service professionals (our Pros) can rely on.

You help lead the development and delivery of the tax offering — from managing day-to-day operations and compliance, to building out scalable systems, workflows, and integrated product experiences in partnership with our fintech teams. You use data to drive insight and efficiency, turning complexity into clarity and ensuring our Pros are fully supported at every stage of the tax lifecycle.

Our team is passionate, empathetic, hard working, and above all else focused on improving the lives of our service professionals (our Pros). Our success is their success.

What you do each day:
  • Oversee preparation and filing of individual and business tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Manage a team of Tax Advisors providing strategic, proactive tax guidance to Pros
  • Serve as the senior tax expert for high-priority clients, offering insights that strengthen long-term relationships
  • Develop and implement scalable operational processes to improve tax delivery efficiency and consistency
  • Monitor and optimize team performance using KPIs and metrics such as throughput, quality, and time-to-file
  • Build integrated workflows with fintech and accounting teams to deliver a seamless embedded tax solution
  • Translate capacity, complexity, and workload data into actionable staffing and workflow decisions
  • Drive continuous improvement through the creation of standardized playbooks and quality control measures
  • Cultivate a team culture centered on collaboration, innovation, and exceptional Pro service
  • Support acquisition and retention efforts by ensuring every Pro feels confident and cared for in their tax experience
Qualifications:
  • 5–7+ years of experience in tax preparation, filing, and advisory services, with strong knowledge of small business tax needs
  • Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with active licensure
  • 3-5+ years of proven experience managing and scaling high-performing tax teams
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax codes and compliance frameworks
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience using Drake or similar tax software platforms (i.e. Drake, ProConnect, UltraTax)
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; able to explain complex tax concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Experience designing or managing operational workflows, dashboards, and reporting frameworks
What will help you succeed in this role:
  • Strong operational leadership with a track record of building, mentoring, and enabling high-performing teams
  • Ability to design and interpret capacity models, performance dashboards, and tax complexity scoring systems
  • Strategic thinker who excels in ambiguity and can derive actionable insights
  • Familiarity with working cross-functionally with engineering or product teams on tax-related features or tooling
  • Experience supporting home service professionals, contractors, or similar customer segments
  • Detail-oriented and proactive; always seeking ways to improve service delivery and reduce risk
  • Personable, trustworthy, and approachable — able to inspire confidence from team members and Pros alike
