Position Summary:
Nexstar is seeking a technical project manager to coordinate and manage our data development roadmap, with a focus on creating a single governed data estate that will serve as the foundation for AI agent access to trusted, well-structured data across the business. This role, located in Nexstar’s New York offices, drives execution across a large, multi-phase data platform migration, from initial planning through full cutover and legacy retirement.
Responsibilities:
- Own the program plan and keep it current including sequencing, dependencies, risks, and adjustments as priorities shift
- Coordinate with technical leads and program managers from other departments, keeping our priorities and deliverables aligned across multiple cross-functional projects
- Manage integration partner relationship, holding them to scope, timeline, and quality commitments
- Coordinate across workstreams (migration, AI agent development, master data management, and others) and disciplines (data engineering, analytics engineering, agent development, BI)
- Coordinate across parallel workstreams (migration, AI agent development, master data management, and others) and disciplines (data engineering, analytics engineering, BI)
- Maintain visibility across workstreams operating on independent cadences, and own escalation when drift, priority conflicts, or partner slippage need to be surfaced and resolved
- Bridge business and technical teams by working credibly with data engineers on architecture decisions and with business stakeholders on priorities and trade-offs
- Keep data migration sequencing on track. Source systems migrate in a priority order driven by business requirements, and this role maintains that sequence and adjusts it when priorities change
- Triage incoming requests during the migration, assessing whether new work should be built in current systems or deferred to the new platform
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-workstream data platform programs
- Strong facilitation and influencing skills, with the ability to drive alignment across teams
- Prior experience managing large external implementation partners
- Familiarity with modern data stack concepts: data governance, medallion architecture, semantic layers, Master Data Management, AI/ML pipelines
- Comfortable discussing data pipeline architecture, cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS), and modern data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake) at a technical level, with the ability to follow engineering conversations and ask the right questions across Python-based pipelines, Databricks-native jobs, and BI tools (Looker, Power BI)
- Media or advertising industry background helpful. This program spans digital and linear advertising data, is designed to support multiple broadcast partners on a shared platform, and is building toward a unified sales planning and measurement capability across all channels
Salary range for this position is $80-$100K.
