Amentum is seeking a Test Conductor/Range Safety Advisor to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission in Andros Island, Bahamas. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments. The Test Conductor/Range Safety Advisor is responsible to function as an adjunct position to the AUTEC US Navy Range Safety Officer and US Navy Range Safety Watch Officers. The Test Conductor/Range Safety Advisor is accountable to the Test Operations Manager on the AUTEC project. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily office administrative support to the US Navy Range Safety Officer preparing and maintaining controlled unclassified and classified documentation such as pre-test safety briefs, training plans, and draft scheduled and infrequent naval messages.

  • Provide range expertise to the US Navy Range Safety Officer, NUWC Program Manager, and Contractor Duty Program Engineer during the planning phase of tests at AUTEC.  

  • Make provisions for safe movements of vessels within the AUTEC OPAREA.

  • Maintain familiarity with all scheduled air, surface, submarine, and range craft operations within the AUTEC OPAREA.

  • Evaluate actual test support requirements. Provide assessments and make recommendations as to the best method(s) for accomplishing all aspects of each test/program.  

  • Check message traffic daily for communications pertinent to the conduct of operational testing at AUTEC and ensure documentation is handled in accordance with their respective classification.

  • Attend operational meetings and briefings and keep fully abreast of test related issues and events that could affect operational testing.   

  • Support the Range Safety Watch Officer to ensure test operations conducted on range are performed in a safe manner and all test operations comply with the AUTEC Range Safety program. 

  • Stand rotational watches within the Range Safety Watch bill monitoring surveillance radars and providing coordination of range support vessels and aircraft; this may involve 12-hour shifts working days and/or nights in accordance with posted test schedule requirements.

  • Maintain appropriate logs and computer graphic alpha/numeric displays to support real-time operations when standing watch.

  • Sit real-time operations as a Test Conductor as needed in accordance with Test Conductor responsibilities. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ten (10) years of experience in supporting large-scale military or civilian range or test operations in a direct support role.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Electronics, or equivalent required. Professional experience and education may be substituted for the degree requirement.

  • Qualify as a Range Safety Watch officer in accordance with NUWCDETAUTECINST 3500.1L; required. 

  • Qualify as a Test Conductor in accordance with work-based learning and certification; required. 

  • Working knowledge of various tracking, acoustical, and/or communication systems as well as performance characteristics of US Navy vessels and anti-submarine warfare tactics including associated weapons systems, acoustic countermeasures and ASW targets.  

  • Computer literacy in a Windows environment. Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English required. Use of Microsoft Outlook email and associated tools is imperative.  

  • Capacity to manage close vision work on computer screens/monitors. 

  • Must be able to walk up/down a one flight stairwell.

  • Work independently and as a part of a team with US Navy, contractor, Range User and NUWC personnel.  

  • Aptitude for tactful interaction with a wide variety of military and civilian personnel including various nationalities.  

  • Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure; remain flexible and professional coping with changes in a real-time environment.

  • Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.

  • A valid U.S. passport and driver's license is required.

  • This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Science, or Electronics preferred.

  •  Five years of AUTEC experience in range test operations or equivalent professional experience conducting military or large-scale exercises and operations.

  • Knowledge of AUTEC capabilities. 

       

Compensation Details:

$30.00
