THE ROLE:

We're looking for an eager, detail-oriented professional to join as a Trading Operations Specialist supporting our growing trading desks. Our Operations Specialists are responsible for managing the clearance, settlement, and reconciliation of trades and positions on behalf of multiple trade desks across the firm. Operations Specialists interact with multiple groups both internally and externally, working closely with traders, finance, compliance, brokers and firm customers to ensure timely settlement of trades, accuracy of books and records, and avoidance of unanticipated risk to both the firm and its customers.

Trading Operations Specialists work to further enhance the robustness of the firm’s operations workflows and to enable trading and customer offerings in new markets and asset classes. Operations Specialists not only become experts in the logistics and mechanics of trade clearance and settlement, but they also play a crucial role in the ability of the firm to conduct trading efficiently and safely, perform challenging and stimulating data analysis, and participate in the architecture of new systems and controls. This is a great role for candidate in the early stages of their career, looking to grow their knowledge and experience in the world of trading and financial services. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring regulatory processes and pre-market activities
  • Managing trade clearance, settlement and reconciliation
  • Communicating with counter parties and clients, as needed
  • Monitoring intra-trading day processes to ensure smooth operation
  • Building relationships with third party providers

THE CANDIDATE:

  • 2 - 6 years of experience working in a trade support role at a financial institution (banks and trading firms preferred).
  • Experience in middle and/or back office trading operations, with a solid understanding of clearing and settlement cycles.
  • A natural problem solver who seeks to improve upon trading operations workflows.
  • Exceptional communicator who can translate their ideas into workable solutions.
  • Ability to take a complex program and design workable solutions.
  • Settlements experience is preferred.
  • Corporate Actions experience is a plus.
  • Interest in growing programming abilities (experience in SQL is required/Python is a plus).

PERKS

  • Virtu is a fast paced meritocracy where employees are rewarded for their contributions to the firm.
  • A stocked kitchen with breakfast and snacks, along with a barista bar.
  • Close knit team environment with weekly happy hours.
  • 25 days of paid time off a year, unlimited sick leave and exceptional health insurance plan options.
  • Opportunities for travel to international offices.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $175,000 (salary range is exclusive of bonuses, benefits or other categories of compensation)
