The role will serve as the primary U.S. transactional tax execution lead for the private markets platform, with a particular focus on Infrastructure and Private Equity investments, partnering closely with deal teams throughout the transaction lifecycle to provide real-time tax support across diligence, underwriting, structuring, execution, and exit activities.

Key responsibilities include structuring U.S. transactions across KKR’s private markets platform, coordinating K-Series topside structuring for global investments, and partnering closely with regional transactional tax leads to support consistency across jurisdictions. The role will also support transaction-adjacent tax matters impacting portfolio investments, including restructurings, integrations, and exits.

The role requires sound transactional judgment, strong project management and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across investment, legal, finance, compliance, and operations teams while managing multiple concurrent transactions and advisor workstreams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Transaction Tax Execution & Structuring:

  • Lead U.S. transactional tax support for Infrastructure and Private Equity investments, partnering directly with deal teams throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Lead tax diligence, underwriting and structuring analyses for U.S. transactions, directing external advisors and internal workstreams to identify material tax risks, structural considerations and downstream operational implications.
  • Develop practical, scalable transaction structures aligned with commercial objectives and the firm’s tax risk parameters across all participating capital sources, including flagship funds, co-investment vehicles and K-Series capital.
  • Review and provide strategic direction on tax diligence, structuring analyses, financial models and transaction documentation prepared by external advisors, identifying key issues and driving focus toward material matters.
  • Review and advise on tax-related provisions in transaction documents, including purchase agreements, partnership agreements, and financing arrangements, in coordination with Legal and external counsel.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Finance, Compliance, Operations and external advisors to support efficient transaction execution and implementation.

K-Series Global Transaction Coordination:

  • Coordinate K-Series topside structuring and transactional tax execution for global investments involving U.S. participation.

  • Collaborate with external advisors to evaluate investor, operational and jurisdiction-specific structuring considerations impacting K-Series investments.

External Advisor Management & Cross-Functional Coordination:

  • Serve as primary liaison between deal teams and external tax advisors for U.S. transactions, overseeing scope, timelines, deliverables, and priorities while ensuring practical, commercially focused advice.
  • Challenge assumptions, identify gaps and guide advisors and internal stakeholders toward efficient solutions aligned with key value drivers.
  • Communicate tax considerations clearly across internal functions and support knowledge sharing initiatives to improve execution consistency.

Portfolio & Strategic Support:

  • Partner selectively on transaction-adjacent tax matters affecting portfolio investments, including restructurings, integrations, internal reorganizations and exit planning.
  • Support broader strategic and operational initiatives relevant to KKR’s private markets platform and transactional tax function.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional certification such as JD/LLM, CPA, or equivalent required.
  • Approximately 6–10 years of transactional tax experience, preferably with a leading law firm advising private equity and infrastructure sponsors, or alternatively within a Big 4 accounting firm or comparable in-house transactional tax function, with substantial experience supporting infrastructure and private equity transactions.
