The Underwriting Manager oversees the US Corporate Professions portfolio, leading teams, shaping underwriting strategies, and managing performance metrics while representing the company externally with brokers and partners.
This is a senior leadership role within CFC US’s underwriting management team, with responsibility for leading and growing our US Corporate Professions portfolio across the East Coast. You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering underwriting strategy, driving profitable growth and building high-performing teams in a dynamic, fast-growing business.
As the regional lead, you’ll have accountability across the full underwriting lifecycle. From new business and renewals through to pricing, risk selection and coverage, while acting as a senior escalation point and trusted leader for underwriters in the region.
About the role
In this role, you’ll balance strategic oversight with hands-on leadership. You’ll work closely with the Head of US Corporate Professions and global underwriting leadership to help set portfolio direction, support the P&L process and contribute to annual planning. Using data and insight, you’ll monitor performance against budgets, KPIs and service levels, stepping in early where performance needs attention.
Externally, you’ll represent CFC with brokers and capacity partners, helping to strengthen existing relationships and develop new ones. You’ll support binder renewals, contribute to product development and play an active role in positioning CFC as a leading provider within US Corporate Professions.
People leadership is central to this role. You’ll coach and develop underwriters and leaders, embed strong underwriting discipline and create a culture of ownership, performance and continuous learning – all while living and promoting CFC’s values.
About you
You’re an experienced underwriting leader with a strong track record in Corporate Professions insurance and a proven ability to lead successful teams. You combine commercial acumen with sound technical judgment and are confident making decisions that balance growth, risk and profitability.
You’re credible at senior level, comfortable presenting to leadership and capacity partners, and able to influence a wide range of stakeholders. You bring energy, clarity and structure to complex portfolios, and enjoy building teams that perform at their best.
You’ll also bring strong communication skills, excellent numeracy, and confidence working with data, MI and reporting tools. A relevant US underwriting licence is required (state requirements may vary).
