Job Description
At J.P. Morgan, we are dedicated to delivering top-tier analysis and analytics on mortgage-backed securities. As a US Agency MBS Strategy Analyst, you will play a crucial role in shaping our insights and strategies for institutional investor clients, contributing to a team consistently top-ranked by Institutional Investor.
As part of the Commercial & Investment Bank's research department, the US Agency MBS Strategy team provides in-depth analysis on securities guaranteed by the GSEs and Ginnie Mae. Your role will involve forecasting prepayments, understanding investor demand, and interpreting policy changes. You will collaborate with economists and strategists to develop forecasts and articulate views on market trends, while engaging with internal sales and trading teams and external institutional clients.
Job responsibilities• Write and produce regular research reports, including flagship publications and special topic notes• Collaborate with economists and strategists to develop forecasts and articulate views on market trends• Build and enhance analytical frameworks and datasets to support strategic initiatives• Engage with internal sales and trading teams, as well as external institutional clients• Contribute to trade idea generation by utilizing valuation frameworks and anticipating future market catalysts
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills• Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a preference for specializations in economics, math, engineering, or data science• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python and proficiency in Microsoft Excel• Strong quantitative skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills• 1-2 years of experience in fixed income is preferred• Intellectual curiosity, a high sense of urgency, a strong work ethic, and a team-oriented mindset
