Situation, a full-service agency building passionate communities for live experience-based clients like WICKED on Broadway and The Metropolitan Opera, seeks a Vice President of Accounts to serve as a senior strategic leader within the Client Services department. This role will report to the Managing Director and drive enterprise-level growth by deepening client relationships at the highest level, expanding Situation's market position, and building a best-in-class account services team that fuels both client success and agency profitability.

Our office is located in midtown Manhattan and we are currently working in-office four days per week: Monday through Thursday.

Key Outcomes
  • Operate as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, influencing their business and marketing strategy at the enterprise level — not just campaign execution — and positioning Situation as an indispensable strategic partner.
  • Materially strengthen Situation's financial trajectory by expanding portfolio revenue and margin, converting new business opportunities, and architecting partnership models that create durable, long-term value.
  • Build and develop a high-performing account services team, cultivating the next generation of agency leaders and establishing a leadership bench that scales with the business.
Core Responsibilities
  • Define and steward the overarching business and marketing strategy for the client portfolio, ensuring every initiative ladders up to clients' enterprise objectives and long-range growth ambitions.
  • Own the commercial health of the portfolio — revenue forecasting, margin performance, pacing, and budget stewardship — driving accountability through direct reports while maintaining executive-level visibility into financial outcomes.
  • Elevate the strategic and leadership capabilities of the account team, developing direct reports into client-facing leaders who strengthen Situation's reputation and expand the agency's capacity for senior-level counsel.
  • Represent Situation externally as a senior voice of the agency — at industry events, in client conference rooms, and among key decision-makers — to cultivate relationships that generate future business.
  • Architect organic growth strategies across existing clients, identifying whitespace opportunities, expanding scopes of work, and empowering direct reports to pursue and close incremental growth.
  • Contribute to Situation's market positioning and thought leadership, authoring perspectives and participating in external communications that establish the agency as the definitive strategic partner in its verticals.
  • Partner across departments and verticals as a member of senior leadership to identify new revenue streams, improve operating systems, and drive cultural and organizational innovation agency-wide.
Management Responsibilities
  • Lead the hiring, onboarding, and organizational design of the account services team, ensuring the structure supports both client needs and agency profitability.
  • Develop clear growth plans and succession pathways for direct reports, aligning individual development with the agency's long-term needs.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, offering candid feedback, strategic coaching, and encouragement.
  • Foster a positive, high-accountability team culture that promotes development, engagement, and pride in the work.
  • Address performance challenges thoughtfully and fairly, making the decisions necessary to ensure team and client success.

Requirements
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in account management or client services — ideally agency-side — including 5+ years leading teams and managing senior client relationships at the executive level.
  • Direct accountability for portfolio revenue, forecasting, and budget stewardship, with a track record of improving profitability
  • Demonstrated success growing existing accounts — identifying whitespace and expanding scopes of work
  • Experience building and developing high-performing teams, including hiring and coaching mid-level managers into senior client-facing leaders.
  • Industry credibility in live entertainment, arts & culture, or a related vertical, with the presence and communication skills to represent the agency externally to senior decision-makers.

Benefits

We offer a competitive base salary and a range of benefits and perks:

  • Salary: $160,000 - $180,000 per year
  • Health care plan (medical, dental, and vision)
  • Retirement plan with employer match
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Generous paid time off package that includes vacation, sick, “life happens” days, birthdays, summer Fridays and public holidays
  • Paid family leave
  • Cold brew coffee, snacks and fresh fruit
  • Wellness resources
  • Special access to New York City’s arts and entertainment scene

We have been honored for our commitment to our team with workplace awards from Crain’s, Best Companies Group, Cynopsis, Digiday, and Fortune.
