Job Summary & Responsibilities
 

The Vice President, Alternatives is a senior investment professional responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and recommending alternative investment opportunities across private markets. This role plays a critical part in shaping portfolio strategy by leading investment diligence, developing high-quality recommendations, and partnering with internal stakeholders throughout the full investment lifecycle.

This position focuses on private equity, private credit, real assets, hedge funds, and related strategies, including secondaries and GP solutions. The ideal candidate brings deep alternatives experience, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to assess complex investment structures, risks, and opportunities within an institutional investment environment.

Your role and impact

Here's a glimpse of your responsibilities and the meaningful impact you'll create as the Vice President, Alternatives:

Sourcing & Origination

  • Identify and originate alternative investment opportunities across private markets, including private equity, private credit, real assets, hedge funds, secondaries, and GP solutions.
  • Leverage market research, manager relationships, and industry networks to source opportunities aligned with portfolio objectives.

Due Diligence & Evaluation

  • Lead comprehensive investment due diligence, including financial analysis, manager evaluation, underwriting, and risk assessment.
  • Review fund terms, structures, and alignment considerations in partnership with internal teams and external advisors.

Investment Analysis & Recommendations

  • Prepare detailed investment memoranda, financial models, and supporting materials to inform allocation decisions.
  • Present investment analyses and recommendations to internal committees and senior stakeholders.

Portfolio Monitoring

  • Support ongoing monitoring of approved investments, assessing performance, risk exposure, and strategic alignment.
  • Review periodic reporting and evaluate market, manager, and portfolio developments.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner closely with internal legal, compliance, finance, and operations teams to support transaction execution and ongoing oversight.
  • Contribute to broader discussions related to portfolio construction, investment strategy, and alternatives allocation.

Market & Industry Insight

  • Stay current on trends, risks, and innovations across alternative asset classes.
  • Provide informed market perspectives to support strategic planning and investment decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

What sets you up for success

  • Approximately 8+ years of experience in alternative investments, private markets, secondaries, GP solutions, or related fields.
  • Experience in environments such as asset management, private equity, investment banking, fund-of-funds, or institutional investing.
  • Strong understanding of private market fund structures, performance analysis, valuation methodologies, and investment theses.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including financial modeling, valuation, risk assessment, and scenario analysis.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex investment concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills with internal teams and external investment partners.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) and/or relevant professional certifications, preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of sourcing, executing, and monitoring alternative investments, preferred.
  • Familiarity with institutional investor due diligence processes and documentation, preferred.
