About Clear Street:

Clear Street is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem. Founded in 2018, Clear Street is a diversified financial services firm replacing the legacy infrastructure used across capital markets.

We started from scratch by building a completely cloud-native clearing and custody system designed for today’s complex, global market. Clear Street’s proprietary prime brokerage platform adds significant efficiency to the market, while focusing on minimizing risk, redundancy, and cost for clients. Our goal is to create a single source-of-truth platform for every asset class, in every country, and in any currency.

By combining highly-skilled product and engineering talent with seasoned finance professionals, we’re building the essentials to compete in today’s fast-paced markets.

The Team:

The Dev Ops team is part of Clear Street's Global Custody department alongside Asset Servicing, Settlements, and Tax Operations. The team's mission is to support Clear Street’s broad business objectives through effective operational risk mitigation, business continuity, controls, procedures, subject matter expertise, and automation that results in a frictionless experience for customers and internal Clear Street users.

The Role:

The Vice President, Dev Ops will be responsible for owning and driving technical and operational initiatives that support Clear Street’s custody operating model across asset classes and business lines. This role sits at the intersection of operations, engineering, and the business, combining deep operational understanding with strong technical fluency and execution.

The VP will partner closely with stakeholders to identify operational risks and inefficiencies, translate business needs into clear technical and operational requirements, and ensure solutions are delivered with appropriate controls, testing, and documentation. The role requires strong judgment, prioritization skills, and comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Initially, the role will focus on strengthening core operational workflows, building/scoping additional business lines & asset classes, and core operational services (Vision Tracks). There will be an emphasis on scalability, automation, resilience, and internal & external user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a senior Dev Ops leader and point of accountability for operational tooling, workflows, and enhancements across the firm
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Product, and other cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess impact, identify dependencies and blockers, and drive execution
  • Own the intake, prioritization, and delivery of work through Ops Accelerators and Vision Tracks, ensuring clarity on scope, timelines, and outcomes
  • Lead complex issue management and escalation efforts end-to-end, including impact assessment, root cause analysis, stakeholder communication, and resolution coordination
  • Drive operational risk mitigation through strong controls, documentation, and operating procedures
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities that reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and enhance operational efficiency
  • Partner with engineering teams to influence system design and integrations with an operational, customer, and control-focused mindset
  • Monitor operational health metrics and proactively identify risks, control gaps, and opportunities for improvement
  • Support the scaling of operations to new asset classes, business lines, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide hands-on support during periods of elevated operational activity, incidents, or critical project delivery
  • Establish clear prioritization frameworks and decision-making processes to manage competing demands effectively
  • Act as a subject matter expert on custody operations within a self-clearing environment

Requirements:

  • 8-10+ years of experience in the financial or technology industries in an operations, product, data, and/or engineering role
  • Strong understanding of broker-dealer and custody operations
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with engineering teams and working with complex technical systems and integrations
  • Advanced data analysis skills including SQL and experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Sigma Computing, Domo, Power BI)
  • Comfort understanding technical stacks and working with both proprietary and external systems and integrations (e.g. operational platforms, clearing/custody systems, data feeds, APIs)
  • High degree of curiosity and continuous improvement mindset, with a demonstrated history of driving scalable, efficient solutions
  • Meticulous organization, project management, and documentation abilities
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of ambiguous problems and resolutions in a fast-moving environment while maintaining sound judgment
  • Clear and direct written and verbal communicator with the ability to tailor communications to operational, technical, and/or business audiences
  • Comfortable with Jira and Github
  • Knowledge of DTC systems and processes is a plus
  • Any of the following technical competencies are a plus: AWS S3, MQ, Kubernetes, Linux/Unix, Python, JavaScript, Apache Kafka, Retool, Figma, Postman, workflow automation tools (e.g. Make, Zapier)
