About the Job

The Vice President, Finance is a key leadership role for delivering financial insights to fuel growth and drive accountability. Reporting to the CFO, they will play a critical role in providing support primarily in corporate strategy and FP&A, while managing the accounting, business systems, and business intelligence arms of the organization. 

This role, while partnering with senior leadership , will establish and maintain financial integrity, identify investment decisions that support the strategic initiatives, and drive continuous improvement within financial operations & business systems. This role is ideal for someone ready to take full ownership of financial strategy and execution in a rapidly scaling business.


What You Will Do

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Own the budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across all territories and departments
  • Provide leadership with insights and recommendations for both short-term and long-term growth 
  • Collaborate with operational teams to review and improve financial performance
  • Enhance cash forecasting process to include budget, re-forecasts, and cross-functional inputs
  • Drive business performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) that provide a forward-looking view into trends requiring management decisions and action
  • Standardize financial modeling and enhance efficiency by reducing manual tasks
  • Improve product lifecycle visibility w/ focused enhancements on data collection and analysis
  • Improve the quality, timeliness, and reliability of financial analysis

Strategic Financial Support

  • Develop long-range financial models that align with company goals and investor expectations
  • Provide scenario analysis and sensitivity models to support strategic decision-making
  • Partner with executives to guide financial operations and strategic decision-making
  • Present financial results to executives, investors, Board of Directors, and lenders
  • Assess financial impacts of expansion opportunities
  • Support capital/debt raising by anticipating due diligence requests and presenting data in an articulate manner that supports company narrative
  • Initiate and support projects by enabling data-driven decision-making on business investments and strategic resource allocation in real time

Other

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and analytics team
  • Develop individuals suited to operate in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
  • Optimize team structure to enhance financial support
  • Automate processes and systems to achieve efficiency gains and quality improvements
  • Lead and mentor the teams, fostering professional growth and ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP
  • Ensure adherence to tax regulations, audits, and other financial compliance requirements

Ad-hoc reporting and analysis as requested


What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related area; MBA is a plus
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a finance related role in corporate FP&A, investment banking or corporate development
  • 3+ years of executive level experience leading through time-sensitive situations such as audits, acquisitions and financings.
  • Prior experience in the cannabis industry, complex manufacturing, and/or CPG required
  • Advanced modeling and presentation skills. 
  • Open to occasional travel, ability to maintain a regular presence in office in the Sacramento area (3-5 days/month)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP is a plus
  • Ability to think creatively and a high standard of accuracy and precision is required 
  • Ability to organize, track, and manage a variety of concurrent activities and projects
  • Strong interest in continuously improving the automation of the reporting process
  • Excellent matured communication skills - written and verbal – geared to relevant audience
  • Self-starter, self-directed, and able to work independently as well as an effective part of a team
Compensation Description (annually): The salary range for this position in the selected city is $200,000.00 - $225,000.00 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.

  • Requires normal hearing range.
