Purpose and Job Summary:

In July 2025, ORIX announced a definitive agreement under which ORIX USA would acquire a majority equity ownership of Hilco Global. This transaction will be the foundation of a new asset-based investing arm, which will combine Hilco Global’s expertise in valuing, monetizing and lending against tangible and intangible assets with ORIX USA’s capital and scalable lending capabilities to capture this growing, compelling market opportunity.

Hilco is a privately held diversified financial services company and the world’s preeminent authority on maximizing the value of assets. The firm delivers a unique blend of restructuring and principal investing solutions across the retail, commercial industrial, real estate, manufacturing, brand, and intellectual property sectors. For 38 years, Hilco Global has operated as a holding company of more than twenty specialized business units that act as an advisor, agent, or principal in diverse transactions. Hilco Global is based in Northbrook, Illinois and has more than 770 professionals operating on five continents.

Hilco Global has built a differentiated track record by harnessing the strength of its people and proprietary asset-level data to drive a true origination and execution advantage. Now, in partnership with ORIX, Hilco is launching a dedicated Asset Management platform to expand its investing capabilities. As part of this initiative, we are growing our investment team in both our Chicago and New York offices.

We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Vice President to play a key role in the execution of unique cross-capital structure, asset-based investment opportunities and serve as a founding team member of the newly launched Hilco Asset Management platform.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end execution of asset-based and structured credit investments, including diligence, financial modeling, term sheet negotiation, and documentation
  • Conduct comprehensive credit underwriting across the capital structure, with a focus on complex, collateral-backed investments (e.g., ABL, Term Loans, FILO, DIP, IP-backed, Asset Acquisitions, etc)
  • Actively support the buildout of the investment platform, including origination strategy, internal infrastructure, and go-to-market positioning
  • Develop and present detailed investment memoranda for internal IC approval and external capital partners
  • Interface directly with borrowers, intermediaries, and corporate / sponsor relationships, building long-term connectivity across the market
  • Collaborate with internal Hilco valuation, liquidation, and appraisal teams to leverage firmwide insights into asset value recovery and downside protection
  • Support ongoing portfolio monitoring and asset management including covenant compliance, amendment processes, and reporting

Travel Requirements - 10%

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business or other related field; MBA experience welcome
  • 4 – 7 years of experience in private credit, asset-based lending, special situations, or restructuring.

Required:

  • Progressive corporate credit underwriting experience at a major commercial bank or credit manager, or transaction experience at a middle-market investment bank or financial advisory firm will also be considered
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of transactions, including modeling, structuring, and IC presentation
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a start-up environment within a larger institutional platform
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust internally and externally
  • Familiarity with legal documentation and intercreditor dynamics in ABL and structured lending deals
