About the role

We're hiring a VP of Market Surveillance to run hands-on surveillance across a CFTC-regulated designated contract market (DCM) and to help define how we do that work at scale. You'll monitor trading activity, investigate suspicious behavior, and build cases. You'll also bring deep exchange-side and regulatory expertise into the room, shaping detection logic, surveillance strategy, and the product itself. This role covers both real-time trade monitoring and post-trade surveillance across regulated sports event contract prediction markets.

This is a builder's role. You know how surveillance is supposed to work at a real exchange, and you have ideas about how to do it better. This is a VP-level position with room to grow into the function as it scales.

What you'll do:

  • Run real-time monitoring and post-trade surveillance across regulated sports event contracts to identify market abuse, including wash trading, spoofing, manipulative order behavior, and insider trading patterns
  • Own investigations end to end. Build the case, document findings, and escalate to Compliance, Legal, and regulators when appropriate
  • Translate surveillance practice into product. Work with engineering and data science to define detection logic, tune alerts, cut false positives, and sharpen the tooling
  • Build and refine the surveillance framework: alert thresholds, review procedures, escalation paths, and controls mapped to CFTC DCM Core Principles
  • Partner across Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Engineering to strengthen systems and workflows
  • Help define team standards and structure as surveillance scales

Requirements
  • 5+ years in market monitoring and surveillance, market regulation and investigations, compliance, or market integrity at a DCM, a futures commission merchant (FCM), or a regulatory body (CFTC, NFA, CME, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of CFTC-regulated markets and DCM Core Principles, with real depth on market surveillance and manipulation (CFTC Regulation Part 38 and Core Principles 2 through 5)
  • Proven hands-on experience: you've run the alerts, built the cases, and written the reports yourself
  • Strategic instinct: you see how monitoring and surveillance can be done more efficiently and can help form the approach, not just execute a playbook
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working directly with trading data to find subtle patterns
  • Clear writing and communication for technical, non-technical, and regulatory audiences
  • High integrity, sound judgment under pressure, and a firm commitment to confidentiality and market integrity

Preferred skills, not required:

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for building analyses, notebooks, and data pipelines
  • Experience with trade surveillance platforms such as Eventus, EP3 (Connamara), or other similar platforms
  • Familiarity with prediction markets and event contracts
  • Familiarity with sports integrity data and event outcome sources (e.g., Sportradar Integrity Services, IC360, official league data feeds)
  • Background and experience at a DCM, FCM, or regulatory body
  • Experience standing up or scaling a surveillance function from an early stage
  • Experience standing up, scaling, or designing monitoring and surveillance systems from an early stage

Benefits

Compensation:

The target base pay for this position is $160,000-170,000. An annual bonus will be provided as part of the cash compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.

This is an onsite position based at our offices in New York City, NY.

TWG is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.
