We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Vice President in Investment Management Operations. The VP of Operations is critical in ensuring the Liquidity money market funds operate smoothly, meet any regulatory obligations and deliver exceptional service to clients (internal and external), making it a key driver to the liquidity business overall success.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is a Team Manager position at Vice President level within Client Service & Relationship Management, which is responsible for managing internal and external client relationships. We do this by engaging in client service activities, optimizing the client experience, and managing vendor/external business partner relationships.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Manage a team of professionals and oversee all operational activities, including fund accounting, trade settlement, record-keeping and investor servicing of the liquidity client services team

  • High proactive and energetic focus toward client service and relationship management. 

  • Ability to work across an array of functional teams and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment to meet committed timelines. (investment team, sales, transfer agent and third-party service providers)

  • Drive the adoption of technology solutions to streamline operational workflows, enhance data accuracy, and improve reporting capabilities

  • Lead, participate and direct resources to deliver day to day (BAU) and project / product development initiatives to support liquidity business

  • Conduct periodic reviews of operational processes/procedures to ensure efficiency and identify areas or improvement

  • Implement robust operational risk management framework to identify, monitor and mitigate risks

  • Lead and mentor the Client Service team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation and high performance

  • Collaborate with the investment and sales teams to align operational processes with the funds’ overall strategy

  • Act as a key point of contact between operations and senior management to ensure alignment on priorities and deliverables

  • Work closely with clients, sales, intermediaries and vendors to address operational queries and ensure satisfaction

  • Represent the operations team in investor discussions, onboarding new client accounts, and corporate actions meetings

  • Carry the firm’s culture, values, and commitment to operational excellence by putting clients first, doing the right thing, leading with exceptional ideas, and giving back

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • In depth knowledge of money market funds structure, operations and regulatory framework, with a strong understanding of the Transfer Agency roles/ functions and systems

  • Knowledge of Mutual Fund intermediary fee contracts and payments (12b-1, Sub-TA Shareholder servicing, Revenue share)

  • Proven track record in managing teams and complex operational workflows

  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement

  • Strong individual initiative with the ability to take a proactive approach to assign projects and new team initiatives.  Ability to think outside the box in problem solving.

  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, and Access) and other industry-leading technologies like Alteryx, Power BI, GenAI, etc. to drive automation and efficiency

  • At least 7 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $172,500 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
